My worry is not Nintendo but 3rd parties

I understand. I guess that they would potentially have tested it to begin with and see how it would sell.

My opinion on the matter is that we'll see most titles being multiplatform, with just a few being exclusive to the home consoles because of their scale / impossibility to scale back for the handheld. Which is quite similar to what we see on iPhone / iPad. And iOS / Android are the examples Iwata mentioned back in January.

Yeah, i guess that can happen. I'm curious to how Iwata/Nintendo will view this, if they think it is a good idea to make many multiplatform games like that.

Looking at Chriss comparison chart, 3DS sold basically the same as last year since the launch of the revision (from week41-now), something not imaginable just a few months ago, considering the decline in the first half of the year.

Yes, there most likely will be 2-3 Yokai Watch games and 1 Pokemon game before the release of the next handheld so 3DS has the record on lock.

Right. DQ11 is the biggest get PS4 could get. Largest third party franchise on consoles.

There'll definitely be a bundle for FFXV...maybe even more like a slim PS4. I'm also expecting bundle foo MGSV but I just want one for Bloodborne or FF Type-0 since thats when I;m going to buy a PS4 .......its a good idea though.

I distinctly recall there being some vehement opposition to the idea that the 3DS was becoming naturally saturated, with someone even asserting that saturation doesn't occur for console products.

Nintendo is going to need to launch new products in both home and handheld categories in 2016.

Wii U HW Japanese sales are such a massive disappointment this holiday season.

Wii U's Global HW Shipments for Q3 (1.96 million) might resemble what they achieved last year as a result of Japan's poor performance.

It can't be put all on Japanese sales being down though. Correspondingly the US November was highly disappointing in being only marginally up; leaving it currently up only 40K over last year's FYQ3 so far.

I thought WiiU numbers are good, then looked at last year's number and surprised by it (73K).
What got released for WiiU last December?

Days 22-23 and 24 (biggest days of the year) are in Week 52, though.
Week 51 should be bigger, but week 52 will hold better than previous years.

I think it's doing well at 2.3 million copies and counting, especially for a sequel/expansion. They will never hit 3.9 million by March though. Maybe if they release an HD Version, there's still time!

I'm sure that was a joke from the poster. That comparison doesn't make much sense either since iirc comgnet works best when observing games from the same franchise and even then its not accurate. I forget the exact number but comgnet is only a small fraction of the bigger picture.

Wow, I find incredible that the PS4 is outselling the Wii U currently in Japan by only counting the Fiscal Year results so far, it is incredible when you consider that PS4 is far more expensive and have a lot less games that are appealing to the Japanese market than the Wii U. I don't know if this talks badly of the crappy first year of the PS4 or if it just points out how bad is the situation of the Wii U because if PS4 is outselling it in a year where there hasn't been a single big japanese release and while Wii U saw the releases of MK8 and Smash bros, what is going to happen next year? When PS4 will start to get some games that are appealing to the japanese gamers.

Really shows how horrible the WiiU sales are in a year where it received 2 of its biggest games. Of course PS4 is going to outsell it in the long run the question always was when not if.
