I'd say it'd be in Sony's interests to secure it for PS4 to get Japan to start buying the system asap. With localizations of portable Tales I wouldn't get very optimistic.
Hope they announce it in June I don't expect a PS4 Tales right away.

Okay then. Current-gen platforms it is. Tales of Xillia and Tales of Xillia 2, which came out in Japan last November, are both PS3 exclusives. And when I asked Baba to share some words about the future of his longrunning series, he said they plan to stick with the consoles we know and love.
"Foremost we just want to make sure that we're able to provide the next titles on a console that a lot of our fans already have," he said. "So basically there's just a lot of things that we keep bringing to the plate, whether it's stories or characters, whatever console it may be, we want to make sure we bring the best to the fans."

Yeah, I think it makes a lot of sense for Namco.Oh, Nirolak, this seems important as well:
Not really. He's trying to draw attention to the game mostly selling through the much-touted high stock months after the fact and at reduced prices, which isn't ideal. These things matter more than some here are willing to admit, in the way it affects Capcom's ability to negotiate with retail on stocking future releases.
How many years will it take for Japanese developers to come to grips with PS4?
Okay so now that we can add Tales to our "not Wii U" list, given that Sengoku Basara was also announced for PS3, what are the remaining moderately sized Japanese franchises we are expecting have at least a fair chance of coming to the system?
I think we made a list about ~20 threads ago, but I'm not sure if I have it anymore.
.
I think Persona is the only one that fits the description but I double Atlus would make a Wii U/Ps3 multiplat and I don't think there's a chance P5 misses a chance to be on Ps3 or Vita (or Ps4 if they take like 2-3 years from now to make it)Okay so now that we can add Tales to our "not Wii U" list, given that Sengoku Basara was also announced for PS3, what are the remaining moderately sized Japanese franchises we are expecting have at least a fair chance of coming to the system?

This gen they wasted a ton of sales potential hopping to every possible platform, so them being reluctant to do that now is a sound business strategy.

The situation isn't as bad as this example, but Game and Wario will eventually sell 100k+ units which will make it look like less of a failure down the line when we look at LTD sales. It's still a colossal bomb regardless.
Yeah I think the thing that has surprised me the most is not that there's "silence" (as in no larger titles), but actual silence (as in no retail games at all).Frankly, until we actually get a Japanese 3rd party Wii U announcement (IIRC we have had 1 in 4-5 months- RE:Revelations), I think the most prudent guess is to say none.
That did come to mind, though they seem to be taking five billion years to announce the game at all.I think Persona is the only one that fits the description but I double Atlus would make a Wii U/Ps3 multiplat and I don't think there's a chance P5 misses a chance to be on Ps3 or Vita (or Ps4 if they take like 2-3 years from now to make it)
Personally I would expect at least 2013 and 2014's games to be on PS3.I could be wrong but I felt like he was implying there'll be a few more Tales for PS3? When they do make the next gen jump though (when they feel like fans are on board with next gen), they ought to stick with PS4. This gen should've made it clear that people want console Tales on a Sony console.
If AC holds steady at 60k minimum, we're looking at it past AC:WW by the end of the year, even without the holiday boosts and such. Its gotta slow down sometime, but this is uncharted territory right here.

I for one am enjoying reading the fabrications of price collapse directed toward Monster Hunter 3G.

It had a big debut and its legs are stronger, I don't see any reason for it to slow down any time soon. Its outpacing WW by a wide margin, its done more than WW with only half the time, friggin insane. At first upon reading your post 5M seemed to me a little far-fetched, but I've just checked on Garaph and it seems so far New leaf is performing in line with Wild world, if not slightly better, isn't it?

It seems Animal Crossing: New Leaf has found a new baseline (60.000) after two consecutive drops where it went from selling 76.000 units to 60.000.
The gap between these two games will start widening, especially with Golden Week being so close.
Now the question is if its sales will be affected by the release of Tomodachi Collection: Shin Seikatsu.

Thanks for the list Road.
I feel the 3DS hitting PS2 level ate up a lot of the bottom end.
Sony is also incentivizing a lot of the lower tier software on to Vita at this point in an attempt to save the platform.
Polarization and declines in console retail sales relative to the PS2 era have made a lot of the types of games that did come to the Wii no longer financially feasible as well.

"But you asked us to make games for the 3DS... Now you want us to make games for your new Wii accessory too?!!"
=Kysen;52829253]From a few forums I visit here is what I've read:
Could anyone say what the average japanese gamer perception is to Nintendo and sony?
Sony is in decline but still viewed as better than MS for home consoles.
Do they view the wii u as much as a disaster as we are seeing here and is it throwing a lot of negativity towards nintendo in their eyes?
Constantly, WiiU is the butt of jokes week in week out. Especially after MC/Famitsu charts. 'ナイスレンガ'(nice brick) and for each of the western developers giving bad news about WiiU you see crude translations(from English) of their statements. Laughs all round.
Also how is the VITA percieved over there (post price cut)?
Still a failure but picking up slowly. Currently has a MH problem(lack of), so far all the hunting games like SS, Toukiden get trolled as clones.
Also any perceptions regarding Ps4 to be found?
Linked in more with the 1st statement.
I'm amazed at the lengths some people will go to convince themselves that MH3G underperformed. Sure, if you expect MHP3 numbers, but even Capcom didn't expect that.
It really is bizarre. Only a few posters though.
Seeing the big difference between the two perhaps we should ask ourselves: where have all those 3rd party's gone to ?
3DS or phones ?
and if they find the Wii U unapealing why haven't they jumped on ps3 and its installbase?
Marvelous is also a big exclusion. Their games do well on Nintendo hardware also.Well, looking through that list, Hudson doesn't exist and Sega has really decreased its console emphasis since 2006.
Honestly, the big outlier comparing the 2 lists is Namco Bandai.
Road, sorry if mine is a dumb question, but how come Sonic team racing is not included in the list?
That's not from Japanese branch of Sega perhaps?
Anyway, the first thing that caught my attention in the list is the lack of announcements from Marvelous, hope they have something in the works.
Another thing that comes to mind reading that Wii list, if I'm not mistaking myself, Hudson has been bought over for some time.
Marvelous is also a big exclusion. Their games do well on Nintendo hardware also.
What remains of Hudson is also entirely social/mobile now.

Sonic Transformed isnt released in Japan yet. I havnt seen any announcement of a japanese version either.Sonic Transformed didn't release on the Wii U in Japan? Or it didn't release in Japan at all?

OK, thanks. Did not know that.
Quick Google search says the first one didn't release in Japan, so I assume they will do the same. Seems kind of odd to do that. I imagine it could see some modest success since Mario Kart is really popular.
I agree, i was surprised to see that no japanese release is planned. I didnt know that the first one wasnt released there.OK, thanks. Did not know that.

That could be the reason. It is a great game though, so it would be nice to see how it would sellSonic games don't seem to sell very well in Japan, so I can't blame SEGA for not localizing a spinoff.

Not counting the already announced/released stuff (Dragon Quest X, Monster Hunter Tri G HD and Resident Evil Revelations), i think Monster Hunter 4 HD is the most safe bet. I also think a Taiko game has a good chance to come out for the WiiU. Maybe a Inazuma Eleven game as well. Here is the list of all Wii third-party games that sold over 100.000 units, figures aren't completely updated and I didn't take into account the budget releases.
As we can see the list is really pathetic for a console that sold 12 million units, just 38 games.
So basically what we have here is Taiko no Tatsujin (4 titles), Dragon Quest (4 titles), Monster Hunter (2 titles), Resident Evil (ports and spin-offs), a main Tales of and a spin-off and half-dozen titles that took advantage from Wii userbase. From this already poor level of support, what games can Wii U get? I'm afraid that almost nothing.

Taiko would be easy for Wii U. Bamco can just keep on selling the drum accessory they made for the Wii.
Taiko petered out pretty quick on PS2, it finished significantly stronger on Wii actually.Taiko was an unequivocal success on PS2. PS3 owners are still waiting for a Taiko game.
Personally I'd like to see sequels to Family Fishing and Go Vacation on Wii U from Namco Bandai. Nintendo should probably ask them for a Run For The Money game though.

C'mon, you think Namco is not working on Taiko Wii U, out later this year?Taiko was an unequivocal success on PS2. PS3 owners are still waiting for a Taiko game.
