Liz Wheeler: Men who play video games are 'least attractive to women'

Are you attractive?

  • I have a girlfriend now.

  • I'm married.

    Votes: 304 62.0%
  • No, she's right.

    Votes: 60 12.2%
  • I'm the person that doesn't bath before a video game conference.

    Votes: 46 9.4%

  • Poll closed .
I've always thought "gamer" is kind of a weird label anyway, I don't think I've ever described myself as "a gamer" to anyone, just "yeah I play videogames".
There's no label for people who spend that time instead just watching shows and movies; "I'm a netflixer"... :messenger_dizzy:

what I want to know, is that is this is how the feel, why are we trying so hard to make the
Females in games less attractive to appease them? Thats clearly not their problem.

I am curious to know what her hobbies are.

Probably just rides the coattails of her partner.

Examples:
- If she's with a rich guy, she'll see herself as rich by association.
- If she's with an interesting guy, she'll see herself as interesting by association.
- Etc.

I... I think i can say the person who said that might never dwell outside and talk to lot of real people outside...

I am gamer since kid, and in my youth i recorded to date about 30 girls before i decide to married, years ago. I found my wife supporting my hobby, and also encourage me to make my hobby as work. I once work as toy photographer, and while also work in game studio. My wife not only supporting me, but also work with me.

And i know im not the only one.

She's not right but she's not entirely wrong.

In younger demographics gaming is way more popular among young women. I know several who play a bunch of games solo, and quite a few couples who game a lot. Much less than an average guy but it happens.

On the flip side of that many are just kinda apathetic. They want their me time, and gaming is the guys me time to them. They arent exactly turned off by gaming but they arent excited by the notion of it.

I absolutely wouldn't overemphasize how much one games whe trying to attract a woman unless your in a circle that has girl gamers in excess.

I don't understand why we give these types of people any attention. If we leave them alone, they will fade into obscurity and disappear forever.
Indeed, women set too many unrealistic conditions... Let them turn 30 or 35 and this women will become desperate.

They are going to see if they are still with those fussy conditions.

Liz wheeler is 35 and married lmao

Id say most 35 yesr old women fall into a similar category to her with regard to video games and men playing them especially in that age group.

No wonder she is bitter about life 😆😆😆😂

Her stances on several things would probably line up with most men on this site so its funny to see so many dismissing her entirely. Shes listed as a conservative commentator. For many users here over 30, and thats several, this is the exact kind of perspective you're going to run into most often from a woman in that dating pool.

A woman in this day an age in her 30s being into gaming at all is not a common occurrence plain and simple, and most of them aren't going to think highly of a mid 30s man playing video games regularly unless they have a lot else going for them. That generation was not raised to consider video games anything more than a kids playtime accessory.

That will probly be different for women 10-15 years from now.

As long as people are happy in what they like, go ahead.

I have a special girl who likes dark and it doesn't bother me...

When did you have to impress someone with your hobbies? There’s a lot of stuff women focus on like beauty products, shopping, and romantic movies. That doesn’t have to be what the guy likes. I’ve never found a woman attractive just because she enjoyed shopping for new age stones or buys expensive makeup from a fancy retail store.

Remember when the Wii was big and everyone and their grandma had one? You had “attractive” females buying Wii Fit and you could talk about the Wii in a public setting.

A lot of it makes me think women focus on trends and they also follow stereotypes. That is, of course, when they’re not interested themselves. I’m married to someone who games, but she also dated dudes years ago who ditched her for video games. She finishes quite a few of them, but she doesn’t have conversations beyond a couple minutes about them. The best part is that she still enjoys and plays games.

It would suck to have a wife who belittled my enjoyment of them or who constantly told me to “grow up and get a new hobby”. I don’t think I could be married to someone like that.

Even if I get divorced. I probably wouldn’t marry someone who bad mouthed video games. If you can sit there and binge TV and movies then you can handle a video game.

My wife doesn't play games at all and she doesn't judge me at all for doing so. Why would she?

Oh that's right, it's because she's not some vapid Youtuber trying to give hot takes in exchange for a few dollars of ad money.

People like her are just parasites anyway. The way she presents herself and the dismal of an entire entertainment form is childish and embarrassing.

I'm 7 years older than her and her sentiment is from the 90s. Video games are art; there's no debate about this anymore. If vapid women don't want to accept a trillion dollar industry then I'm ignore them irl.

It's just sad and pathetic that people still dismiss this medium. It really tells alot about a person if they are 35 and still feel this way

Anyone that still has this mindset is beyond their prime and will either be single or in a miserable or multiple miserable failed marriages. Nobody wants to be with a person like this. As you said, this is some 90s mindset nonsense and as other have brought up, 50% of gamers are now female. This is not a taboo hobby anymore and anyone that still thinks so is an idiot.

Video games are indeed an art form, but I mean.

We still have people that think something being animated means it should be for kids. This is a byproduct of longstanding social influence done by corporations over the previous century. Being into video games, animation, toys or comic books as an adult has only recently become mainstream, largely due to the inset of such individuals actually getting to be in the seat of the chairs making this stuff.

To be fair, the reason women NEVER mention the importance of physical attractiveness, is because men who are not attractive simply aren't considered human to them.

But yeah, that is how young boys get lied to. Getting told to "be yourself" and whatnot, when women never EVER admit that females consider attractiveness FIRST and everything else is just gravy. Even "gaming" is just a negative purely because it means less time is available to waste on female attention.
100% true, i encourage gaffers to make an experiment sometime, take ur gf/spouse on a date to some not even superfancy but decent-ish restaurant, and ask her to close her eyes and tell how many men are there around u guys(she should answer quickly w/o opening eyes so she cant look around and count them anymore ;p), i guarantee she will not notice most of "low value" guys, aka uggos/old fucks/ waiters etc :p

"It’s weird that so many dudes don’t get this.”

Maybe they do and simply don't give a damn about it. ;)

This is so absurd. If you are attractive (physically or otherwise) that doesn't matter in the slightest, even if they aren't into gaming themselves. And there's lot of women that like gaming.

If someone can't respect your likes and hobbies, there's aplenty of other people out there that do. Attention seekers are the worst.

That is a juvenile mindset you have. Woman prioritize different things based on their age, financial status, and general interests. It's not a monolith and individuals vary and so do their preferences and what they deem attractive. What you are describing is someone shallow and lacking any objectivity. Men value physical traits more than woman do. I have known lots of men who are not very attractive who have no issue meeting woman because they have other redeeming qualities like humor, financial success, and self confidence. Never underestimate having a sense of humor and a positive and confident attitude. Doesn't hurt to poke fun in a playful way on dates either. Woman love a guy who makes them feel good.

I dunno about that. I met my current partner and future wife gaming and we even play the occasional Nintendo game together (currently playing Luigi's Mansion 3 😁)

Why should your attractiveness be dictated by a hobby. I'd hit on someone shoveling horse shit as a hobby provided she is of good character.

I met a few of my ex's while online gaming. My buddy met his wife while playing Runescape. So yeah. It happens all the time.

I have been gaming most of my life and have had plenty of very attractive girlfriends. Lots of them actually liked video games and played them as well. My wife is a beautiful asian girl and never once said anything negative about my love of gaming since we dated. Recently she wanted a Switch Lite because her neice showed her the one she had. She doesn’t play a lot but when she feels like it she will. Any woman who decides to deem a man unworthy because of a hobby he may enjoy isnt a woman worth worrying over. She is a judgmental negative person who just wants to tell men what she thinks is the in thing according to her.
Liz Wheeler is making herself look utterly stupid with this tirade she is on. Shows she has nothing better to do than single out a demographic of mostly harmless people and try to make them feel bad about what they enjoy. She needs to worry about more pressing issues going on in the world if she wants to fight the good fight.
More girls are gaming today than ever before so I guess in her mind they are losers as well…….eh Liz?
She is propably one of those types of women who dominates her man to the point he has no say in anything. So a pussified yes man is all she is interested in so she can dictate what he can and can’t do. Sounds more like she is just an uppity angry twit.

And according to women, what things is more attractive?

Realistic please. 🙄

By the way, it's stupid that I mentioned that magic tricks aren't fun... I don't see any logic in that point, unless I'm a bitter bitch about life.

In addition to her being miserable I would venture to say her hatred towards men who game is a personal issue. I would bet she dated someone who played games and she was not able to shame them into giving it up. That is propably what set her off on this individual crusade. Some women can’t stand men who don’t give into their every demand. It appears Miss Wheeler may be one of those types of women.

In this case, consider the source. She’s not exactly a looker so I wouldn’t lose sleep over her not wanting me if we crossed paths and I was single.

See, that’s the beautiful thing about relationships is people can have different interests the other partner doesn’t care for. It’s a balance. As long as what you’re doing with your free time isn’t harming your partner, go nuts, enjoy yourself. Life’s too short to change who you are for a piece of ass.

Especially a bony bottled blonde with a vendetta.
