Wow, how upset are you by a fucking colour? There’s a blue one in the background and there’s clearly design cues influences from previous Jags in this, like the E-Type, XJ220 and XJ Coupe just to name a few.

Colour aside, I think this looks fucking awesome.
Straight up cyberpunk, Batmobile meets Iron Man’s helmet. Imagine it in black? Glorious.

Probs one of the best marketing stunts of the year … talk of the town for close to a week and about to launch something new to a new audience.

Fact of the matter is they have nothing to lose they sell 64000 cars a year .. barely keeping the lights on. This is the most traction they have had in decades

We'll just have to wait and see.

They haven't sold anything new yet.

I have no issues with Pink, my daughter’s room is all shades of pastel pink and I helped her design it… but this is a fucking car, its meant to usher in a new age of Jaguar motors and shake off the slippers and pipe image we all have of Jaguars… but who exactly is this rebrand appealing too? Sam Smith?



First you come out with an utterly retarded commercial that was so on the nose generic it made Tassh from Dragon Age seem like a well written nuanced character from GRRM, it followed the same shite every woke marketing department thinks is cool ohhh look we’re using fat models now and a strange bloke in a dress… edgy af.. /s, so now you have the entire internet talking about it for ALL THE WRONG REASONS and rightfully slating it left right and center.. well apart from Kotaku/Reee, so to build on all that negative press around the gender-neutral advert, they decide to release the first images of their car…. In fucking PINK?? If you can’t see a problem with that, then good for you, you can be one of the 10’s of people who can buy it safe in the knowledge that everyone else who has a modicum of love of cars will be mocking you and weeping at the once great Jaguar now having fucking pronouns…

100% this. Jaguar is practically a spent brand, people know the brand, but the only people who covet buying one of their cars are older people, and Jaguar need to appeal to more demographics to be viable.

Of course, their car has to be good when they show it, but they've just guaranteed every journalist has an easy line in and for large parts of the entire car market and the public at large, Jaguar are on the radar. "Remember that crazy Jaguar relaunch?! Well it turns out, Jaguar's new car is worth some headlines of its own..." Etc.

Of course, if the car sucks, then they're screwed. But that's not any different to if they'd just done a more conventional ad.

Most of your rambling is completely irrelevant to what I said.

I pointed out how there’s design cues similar to cars of their past, which you’ve clearly ignored, twice now.

Yeah, that initial advert was weird, I didn’t like it. That’s something I’ll agree on, who the fuck were they aiming it at etc.

But the car itself, is interesting. Jaguar themselves haven’t released these photos, the Independent did early by fucking up and releasing press coverage of the event planned for later this evening early.

As I pointed out, there’s a blue one in the background, so it stands to reason that they could well have multiple colours to show off, like that blue one.

For what it’s worth as well, these photos have found their way onto Jaguar owners clubs and guess what? There’s a lot of folk in there that own and drive Jags that like the look of this concept. Myself included.

I love cars, have since I was a kid. I can see the influence of some cars that gave them their legacy they have today. I’m not embarrassed to drive my current Jag and never will be. I’m curious to see more of what they have to offer with this car, because unlike you clearly seem to want, I don’t want such a beloved Marquee of my country to survive.

Take your culture war nonsense elsewhere, you’re sounding like the very people you complain about on Reee.

No lad you haven't struck a nerve, I'm an old man ranting into the wind over the marketing department royally fucking up what could've been a cool new look Jaguar brand and then seemingly doubling down on the cluster fuck of an advert by having the first press shots of the car be pink! I know plenty of Jag owners myself and not one of them like this new look, then again we aren't the target demographic for this and tbh I haven't a clue who the demographic is, that thing looks expensive af

Genuine question but where are you seeing the legendary XJ220 in this other than the insane length of the chassis

Look at the rear end, the “grille” looking thing very much so reminds me of the XJ220’s light clusters and rear that had the lines running through and across them.

Could argue there’s some F-Type or XK8/X150 design elements going on too.

I don’t like the rebrand of erasing the Growler or the new font either. But the car so far based on this concept and seeing there’s some design cues lifted from previous Jags, I do like.

So I’m just waiting to see what they bring to the table with the final car and if they can get the marketing done right going forwards.

I think you're reaching with the XJ reference, I can see E Type queues in the side profile but that's where it stops, it looks like a gay cybertruck

But if the new cars look anything close to these boxy cars, yikes.

The craziest thing about the rebrand is that Jaguar (which already was seen as a high end brand) wants to be even more exclusive. The new electric models are going to be much more expensive than their petrol cars. They're even closing 75% of their UK sales points. This is the craziest rebrand I've ever seen. This new look doesn't appeal to anyone, the ad is universally ridiculed and the rich, woke audience the Jaguar CEO now wants to appeal to doesn't exist.


Jaguar has been accused of abandoning loyal customers and dealerships with its controversial rebrand, as the carmaker prepares to debut its new electric vehicle (EV) lineup. The company will unveil the “design vision concept” for its latest generation of cars – all of which will be battery-powered – at an art show in Miami, Florida, on Monday night. It is part of a historic shake-up that will see the marque target wealthier customers and slash the number of UK dealerships that can sell the luxury cars.

However, the rebrand has sparked a storm of controversy, with the Independent Motor Dealers Association on Sunday claiming it would also leave dozens of the company’s retail partners and their customers worse off. Umesh Samani, chairman of the IMDA and owner of the Specialist Cars dealership in Stoke, said: “There are a lot of angry dealerships out there, because some have invested millions of pounds in these franchises but now won’t be able to continue carrying the Jaguar brand.
“You’ve also got to ask, what will customers do for maintenance and repairs now, when you are narrowing down the number of dealerships so much?
“There’s going to be a major impact and I’m not sure the company has realised what that full effect is going to be yet.”

Jaguar bosses confirmed last month that the company’s ongoing rebrand meant the number of dealerships would be “significantly reduced” in the UK, from 80 today to around 20. At the moment, most dealerships that work with parent company Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) have showrooms that are split 50-50 between the Land Rover and Jaguar brands. One company spent as much as £10m building one of these in Lincoln, according to trade publication Car Dealer.
But under the ongoing “house of brands” strategy and the latest changes to Jaguar, some 60 showrooms will now have to lose the Jaguar brand and instead focus solely on the Land Rover sub-brands Range Rover, Defender and Discovery.

Jaguar has insisted that Jaguar drivers will not be left “high and dry” and will be able to continue getting their cars serviced at all JLR franchises.

They totally are going more exclusive with high end.

Years back when I was scoping out new cars Jag XE was on my radar. Even sat in it at a car show. They don’t sell it Canada anymore. It was their entry level car around $60k. Now if you want a sedan you got to get XF which is I think $80-90k.

There’s lots of people (at least my my circle of friends and peers) who will buy a $60,000-ish car. But when it gets to $80-100k, that gets out of range.

Don't get the whole reveal into what looks like a concept car from the 60s.
If they showed an actual car that would be more interesting.

I don't hate the design or color. It does look like DEI carsonified - disconnected from the outside world, inside you're separated from the person sitting next to you, pretty much all show and nothing inside.

Looks like an enlarged Chrysler Crossfire with an Audi front, plus a fugly grille that doesn't look like it's making the car aerodynamic (and that's "quite" important when you're building an EV).

Personally not a fan of this design. Jaguar hasn't been performing for years and I don’t see this new direction changing that.

Still think they should've kept the Jaguard head logo and placed it on the top of the hood. The text... eh...I guess you could move on from that, but to completely remove the Jaguar head logo? Blasphemy.

I can see what they are going for, a lot of past references and design cues for older Jags but hyper "modernised". I really dislike the back though, it's like the designer just gave up.

I would also bet they redisgned the logo to match the car.

I don't think anyone knows what an aspirational electric car should look like. They say they have no influences, but this sort of looks like they asked an AI to make a Jag designed by Syd Mead.

Yeah Older White Guys who want to play James Bond have not been buying Jags for a while now and its not sustainable to keep on marketing cars to them.

A few years ago they branched out and made the F and E Pace cars to rival BMW and Mercedes for the Suburban 4x4 Car. They also had one of the best EV cars the I Pace when it came to range (my first EV)

These cars where more affordable but where in a very competitive market so i understand their shift to a more luxury brand - last survey done showed Gen Z are more likely to buy Luxury cars than any other group

It could be the perfect idea or the death of the brand and company. At the moment I'm placing my bets on the "go woke go broke" option.
