If Microsoft makes every game you purchase available trough the cloud, can't they make it avalible for download on Xbox and PC as well?

Haven't Microsoft said that every game you buy on Xbox will be avaliable trough their cloud service? Can't these titles also be avaliable for us to download on PC and consoles trough their store? Wouldn't that solve their entire "Play anywhere" thing?

Valve currently doesn't have their own cloud gaming service, and if GeForce Now offered everything, it would be a dream. But on GFN, lots of games are missing, you have to pay a monthly fee, and recently they announced more annoying limits.

I don’t think this is the case. I am pretty sure most games are not available for streaming. You bring up a good point though. Does anyone know if games are sold through the Samsung TV app or is it strictly gamepass games and subscription only?

It might not be the case now, but I think the streaming solution is their plan. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Not every game. Right now it's only select games on Game Pass. Very soon this is going to open up to owned games as well, but supported games will be added in waves and the publishers have to approve it, so it's likely that decent chunk of games will never be allowed to be streamed in the same way that a lot of companies didn't allow MS to make their 360 games backwards compatible.

Streaming for all purchases is supposedly coming soon. Downloads are another matter, but it might be possible in the future depending on their forward compatibility initiative which has so far not been explained, and probably won't be until they finish fully remaking their app or reveal the next hardware.

The streaming uses consoles so you won’t get console exclusive games natively on pc unless they port them or they emulate BC titles

They don't really want that. Having everyone stream games is the ultimate goal. No used market. No piracy. No player access to the game files. Full control over where, when, how and for what price games can be accessed.

It’s gonna be like GFN I assume. Lots of missing titles. But unlike Nvidia, Microsoft could force the issue if they wanted to.

GeForce Now doesn’t offer everything because of the developers/publishers who feel it’s a separate platform. It’d be the same for Xbox I’d imagine.

You can already download the games you own.... This will just add them to cliff

Streaming requires a lot more "readiness" having a bigger library of games ready to go, downloading requires an Xbox translation layer, short of making a PC port of every single game.

Their PC/console hybrid thing has me hoping there is progress on that translation layer. Ideally, if you already have a good PC, you should be able to just download the new launcher and have all your BC 360 games ready to go inside a wrapper.

Not all games are Play Anywhere.
But for those that are if you own it youll be able to download it on PC and Xbox and Cloud(soon all games are coming to Cloud)

The thing is making games Play Anywhere, not all developers want to make their games Play Anywhere.
XGS games are Play Anywhere but say a Rockstar game, they might not want to make their game Play Anywhere.

So what you are asking for already exists, its up to MS and Developers to agree to make the titles Play Anywhere for PC/Xbox
