On my way to the end, I guess
Climbing up the hill and defeated the thunderbird
. I really love the game and may plat it in the future, but for now I just want to finish it (backlog is growing). Hope we get a Sequel/Prequel in a few years.

I missed the power cell at the
the proving mission
in All Mother Mountain any chance to grab it so I can obtain the secret
Armor
?

I tried to get to it for an hour i think... In that first section.
But forgot about it later on in the game. So thanx. Will try and get it.

What's everyone's Rockbreaker strategy? Stormbirds and Thunderjaws are fine for me, but these things are my nemesis. I just don't get enough time to inflict elemental states when they spend so much time underground and then pop up seemingly at random and squash me. Tried spamming traps but they blow up close to me and I take splash damage.

Easiest method is to sneak into their area (sneak, don't walk or they will hear you), set up 2 areas of tight wires then pop a sharpshooter arrow at each "bundle" of wires. They will appear due to the arrow noise and do the whale attack, landing on the wires. If you have enough wires, it'll be 2 instant kills.

Use the Tearblaster to knock their feet off. What I find tricky with Rockbreakers is their movement makes them hard to hit with precision strikes. The Tearblaster doesn't have that problem.

Once they're beached you can approach like any other machine.

So I just finished a later quest in the game
The Heart of the Nora. The quest The Mountain that Fell has me going way up north but Aloy said to meet at Meridian. If I go to Meridian does that start a branching quest line? I assume to deal with the Eclipse. Also is the next quest the last or do I still have a few to go?

Just got the Platinum and it was definitely the most fun I've had with a Platinum in a while. I don't bother with them unless I am absolutely in love with a title, so I can count on one hand the number of them I have and they are some of my favorite games of all time. Here the story is astoundingly original in its telling, the graphics are second to none, the ost is best in class, Aloy is one of the most compelling and unannoying kick-ass protagonists I've ever played (I didn't cringe at one line! Though, to be fair, I was playing in French), the sheer quality of the original release let alone after patches puts other devs to shame, the combat is intense and allows for lots of creativity. It's a world I don't want to leave. Despite the Platinum, I actually want to dive in again from scratch to experience it all over again. It is amazing. For the time being, I'm going to equip my best stealth gear and mods and record some ambient travel videos going from one side of the map to the other to watch and relax with later. Then it's off to Nier. :) Thank you, Guerilla Games.

during
The Mountain That Fell you go to GAIA prime location and when it's done you return to Meridian.

there are two quests after The Mountain That Fell. the next one is a point of no return and there are two optional stages during it but i never bothered with it so it was really short for me. when the game finishes you'll be returned to this point in time to keep doing side quests and other stuff.

Christ, this is a good game.

Just froze a Thunderjaw and eviscerated him with his cannons. Unbelievably satisfying loop.

Why did I not get on the War Bow and status effects sooner?

Blasted the armor off the heart of a Thunderjaw, froze it, tied it down, lobbed a few sticky bombs into its exposed heart, turned around and walked away slowly as it went from 75% health to dead in a second.

For sure. What's funny is that when the first image of robot dinosaurs and lasers (I think) leaked, I was reallllly hoping it was fake because the idea seemed so ridiculous that I couldn't figure out how something like that would have the gravitas necessary for a compelling extended narrative experience. It just reminded me of kids' toys in a kids' game which I know is silly, but that was my first reaction. When they showed gameplay videos my mind was definitely changed and I started taking it very seriously with a fair amount of interest. However, it was not until I saw the story unfold completely that I realized this was one of the most astoundingly real and terrifying science fiction stories I've ever experienced. If Guerilla didn't take it so far, it would be very Black Mirror type stuff because Black Mirror only teases your mind with the horrors of seemingly benign technology. Utterly brilliant cautionary tale for this generation and maaaaybe the next, if we last that long.

I've just finished a mission
where you go into the Faro skyscrapper, and there are some huge revelations between Ted and Elisebet
, my question is, surely that can't be the whole exposition?, are there any twists to come?

The game keeps pummeling you with more information until the very end. I couldn't put it down.

booted this up yesterday. the graphics don't look splendid-spectacular to me, but that's probably because my tv is shit.

in the beginning when adult Aloy is shouting out for Rost, the game was giving me directions about swimming...which I think was a glitch because it's not like I was about to go swimming.

Upon just the first hour of playing though I'm not sure if this is the game for me. There's a lot of stealthy shit involved and I was never really a fan of all that much stealth.

Also similarly to Dragon Age 3 after a while I didn't even know where to go (after trading with the guy who's not supposed to trade with outcasts)

I'll give it another week before giving it back to my coworker. Unless he asks for it back before that.

Yupppp

Corruption arrows unbalance the game just a bit I think. As long as you have enough resources to make em, you can pretty much take out any group by slowly turning them on each other, one by one.

Ropecaster with as many handling mods as it can take makes short work of them.

This plus your click stick to slow mo and zoom in still works with ropecaster also, and helps a lot with targetting fast moving glinthawks

Yeah I also feel that corruption arrows unbalance the game - I took out a group of 4 snapmaws without leaving the grass and ever being seen (well, except by the last one I had to finish off) in about 2 minutes (on Hard). I like the concept but they should figure out a way to retune them a bit (cooldown, component cost, also creates aggro, or something else).

Right. Some of the corrupted fights still end up being hard, like the dual rockbreakers, because corrupted are immune, but the average fights you come across become significantly less risky. Esp if you roll with any corruption buffs on your war bow. When i had three stacked, most things were corrupted in one or two arrows, with even behemoths only needing 3 or 4 iirc.

I'd gladly subsitute corruption arrows for a way to have just a bit more direct control of overridden enemies. Not too much, but at least something.

What? There isn't even a lake nearby for that.

Stealth is completely optional. If you want to approach every situation guns blazing that's on you.

Also similarly to Dragon Age 3 after a while I didn't even know where to go (after trading with the guy who's not supposed to trade with outcasts)
There is a huge yellow marker on screen all the time telling you where to go. It's REALLY hard NOT to notice.

I must say, I turned down the difficulty to easy yesterday and I'm enjoying it much more. Not that it was impossible before but I would get killed fairly regularly and it was making me avoid the story missions because of really challenging boss fights (for me). Not sure if I'm just bad at games (probably) or you are a bit fragile in the beginning. Either way, I'm much happier now.

Just a little feedback for folks who might be in the same situation.

Game is all about the strategy and using the right weapons for the job. Your level doesn't mean much. All it does is increase your overall health.

Yeah I'm playing on hard and dying a lot. Shit gets chaotic and crazy, but I like it. The irony is, that I'll die and the whole place will be cleared and no enemies around. I wanted to keep trying and kill EVERYTHING. I think I'm going to have to rely on hard saves or something.

I'm very happy that level doesn't really matter in this game.
It certianly helps and the new skills are usefull as well, but the biggest Dinos are still a threat no matter what level you are.

Which is why I think it is a glitch.

It's completely optional but it's pretty easy to tell that that's the way the game is meant to be played, what with the whole square button being dedicated to crouching and the tall grass and shit.

It's also really difficult to go in guns bow and arrows blazing all the time with all these machines after you.

There is a huge yellow marker on screen all the time telling you where to go. It's REALLY hard NOT to notice.
I guess i'll have to check it out tonight

I feel like sidequests amounts take a massive dip once you leave Nora lands. On my way to meridian and went through a couple towns/outposts with nothing to do. No errands or quests.

Pretty sure all the Nora towns/outposts atleast had one quest.

No shame in that. I play lot of games (namely WRPGs) on easy these days.

That said, for me with this it was just a matter of getting more weapons and learning how to use them. Once I got an understanding of scanning weak spots, using tear arrows to blast parts/armor off robots, using blast sling for damage instead of arrows etc. I barely died on normal. I did die a lot early on figuring that stuff out/getting tips here on the combat. So it wsn't really a matter of getting good as my skills didn't improve, I just got an understanding of the mechanics.

Early game tripwires are your friend, especially the shock ones, as those will down/stun a lot of robots and let you get critical hits in.

Even the small ones are a threat if there is enough of them.

Outpost tend to no have quest but every village or settlement has at least one. On your way to Meridian you mostly pass through outpost.
