Even if I don't believe it, it might be time that I replay the whole franchise.

I meant to do that since a while. (I actually tried to play my original copy of Half life this year but PC gaming is so great that it was working but without image... just sound...) And I am curious about Black Mesa.

Half-Life is such a legendary franchise for me. So many memories playing again and again the first game and Opposing force.

Isn't Tyler McVicker notoriously unreliable?
Valve has provided IGN with a comment about the reported Half-Life shooter-strategy game:
"It’s good to view [Valve News Network content creator Tyler McVicker's] coverage with a healthy dose of skepticism. We think it’s important to reiterate that while Tyler is a passionate gamer, he has no inside information about what goes on at Valve. As you know, any important announcements on projects that we are or aren’t working on will come directly from us."

might be an hot take, but i don't really care for half life 3 at this point.

what made 1 and 2 great in terms of gameplay has been done afterwards, and in terms of story the ending of the episodes killed any interest i had in it

i'm sure it would be a great game, but i don't need it to happen anymore

They better have some crusty old white beard level design wizards on the team because one thing so-called "boomer shooters" have taught me is that level design is truly a lost art with the new generation. Like they have zero clue.

Well, that "Half-Life shooter/strategy" game he was talking about there ended up being Deadlock, which at the time just happened to be set in the Half-Life universe, and it shows..

So, at least in regards to that, McVicker was right on the money.

I’ll only believe Half Life 3 is real after the credits roll when I finish the game, and even then I’d be half convinced I’m in a dream.

I think the Half-Life style of single player FPS is basically dead at this point, replaced with open world games and military shooters. So if Half-Life 3 came out it wouldn't have any direct competitors.
