So I was pissing around with Chasca some more in the trial. For anyone else that plays in English audio, does she get a fucking Australian accent in her moveset? Like her idle lines and voice lines are all the standard EN voice for her, but it sounds like when you're attacking with her she gets a weird fucking accent. I tried finding a Youtube video to demonstrate but they all have some youtuber talking over her lines.

Heavy attack arrow 2 in the bottom row (the row with 3).

Ganyu official birthday art. A real kick to the nuts for people that bought her outfit and haven't gotten to use it yet because she never had a rerun since it went for sale lol.

Whew boy, Mavuika nerfs round 1 are in, and people are NOT happy. I know there's always doomposting when betas happen, and this is no exception.

She got wiped across the board, lower charge attack modifiers to prevent the donuts, lower off-field damage and her Ascension passive got moved to Constellation 4 just to make her worse off-field unless you pay up.

I was personally hoping to see the motorcycle mode NOT be the default attacking mode (burst is fine), but that remains unchanged.

*edit*

They worked on Citlali's animations and SFX to make it smoother and more expressive. She looks really good.

Well don't forget that they'll both be available the entire patch, starting in 5.3. So you have the whole patch to think about one or both or niether.

I'm still a little pissy about Mav's kit, but so far my (expensive) plans for 5.3 are C2R1 for Mav, and a copy of Citlali. Subject to change, depending on how the beta goes. Either way, I will roll both of them, regardless of how deep I go on Mav and her weapon.

Just did new theater and it was a pain to get the flower against the damn wenut. That stupid boss should be kept out of theater and abyss and any other timed event.
Yeah, same for that mechanical worm that was in the previous one. Those are all about RNG. Not fun.

To be expected really. She was absolutely cracked before, whereas now she's about on Arle's level. Maybe they'll buff her slightly in the coming weeks. I'm more surprised they nerfed Citlali too. Less damage, pretty mediocre shield. Sure, her supportive abilities are powerful, but you'd expect them to tune her up a bit to compete with Mavuika.

True, but to get any kind of crazy numbers above standard, you really need Xilonen for Mav. But I guess the same is true for any DPS with a custom tailored 5* support. I still am a little upset that they're fucking her off-field application. I almost prefer Archons having unique off-field gimmicks that make them virtually future proof. Mav will undoubtedly get powercrept as a DPS before the game is over and then what does she have? They should have given her "out of Natlan" phlogiston or at least enabled the Natlan quickswap when she's in the team, outside of Natlan. Then she could have been the de-facto Traversal Archon and had something unique to her for the length of the game.

I've resigned that a dps motorcycle is what we get though, I don't think any big changes will happen in future betas. Just some % up or down.

Looks like Genshin (along with WuWa and ZZZ) are up for "Players' Voice" votes in TGA:

*edit*

Finally some 4th wall breaking lore I can get behind. Bounty put out on "shippers". HoYo striking out against 85% of the HoYolab community.

All characters are balanced to be used with strong supports like Bennett, Kazuha etc. I don't see this any differently.

I agree. Hopefully they buff her off-field performance so she's a bit more future-proof.

Yeah, story leaks imo should go to the spoiler realm. Don't wanna see the boss. :D

@ Imaginarium talk, personally I'm mixed about it. On one hand, it's another end-game mode and I don't really have any troubles smashing it to bits (got a very broad roster), but on the other, I don't really like relying on RNG to make my teams and having to come up with these taped together abomination comps.

They should just let us use the entire roster (with the cycle's theme limitation) from the get go while still keeping vigor, expand the buff system in place of companion cards and buff up the monsters a bit to offset.

It feels like ever since Yu-peng Chen left genshin music has lacked something - it's still fine to good, but there was something about his compositions that just stuck to you. He really knew how to make banger leitmotifs.

Been slowly exploring around the new Natlan areas and unlocking the teleporters, and I did not expect to see a Simon and Garfunkel reference. (or should I say Simeon and Carbuncle).

Also Frank Drebin namedropped directly without a pun.
naked gun wtf GIF

It's stuff like this that constantly makes me wonder what age group Genshin is going for. The last few summer events have been toddler tier and now they make references to stuff that most people under 30 would have no idea about.

*edit*

Looks like we're getting some Mavuika fund primos for Genshin winning the Playstation Excellence award.

Ok so... what are y'all's thoughts about the significant tech upgrade in Teyvat that was ushered with Fontaine and Natlan? I mean, we're at a point where bikes and jetpacks are a thing.

Sure there's been some ancient tech in the form of Ruin Golems etc. but that's more a fantasy trope.

Genshin's always had some out of place tech, like cameras, guns, Inazuma had a nuclear reactor that exploded etc. But from Sumeru on they were introduced rapidly and got more advanced and thus obvious. The Akasha system was like a DBZ scouter connected to the internet. The Fatui built a robot for Scara to pilot. Obviously Fontaine has a bunch of robots and things. It doesn't make sense that Mondstadt and Liyue never had access to these things from a lore perspective. So that progression was always questionable from a world-building perspective, but people wen't along with it anyway.

But Natlan's tech is jarring and out of place in a tribal society like that. One could try and explain it away as weapons developed in the nation of war, and from their Phlogiston fuel, but that doesn't explain all the non-weapon stuff and the visuals/design of the tech.

But also... It's in the game now. It's not gonna be retconned away. I think the devs wanted to change direction with the game, so they did something new and fresh with Natlan. I think they even had questions about that in one of the surveys. They want Genshin to be hip and happening, and this tech upgrade allows for unique kits. Say what you will about Mavuika, but a character on a bike (or a flying gun) is completely different and novel.

So I've accepted it, possibly because I also never found Teyvat's consistency that good anyway. Y'know, cavalry captain without a single horse in the entire game. That kinda stuff.

Fontaine was fine but Natlan feels really odd because their tech is incredibly inconsistent and their society doesn't even look like they incorporate them into their lives. Just weird

The jetpacks were reverse engineered from past civilization tech said to be more advanced. There seems to be a theme of advanced tech = civilization being wiped out.

I'd say the Inazuma reactor was more magic thing that ran amuck than technology technology. It was a fancy furnace.

The Akasha was built by an Archon that was connected to an advanced civilization that was later wiped out. This advanced civilization is also right next to Natlan.

The Akademiya outlawed the pursuit of robot technology so it was kept for themselves (Scara bot).

Fontaine had electricity no other country had so that helped keep their tech contained.

Outside of guns, there hasn't really been any other advanced weapon tech that I can think of. Do we see any non-vision users use guns? (honest question).

You can say Natlan is next to the advanced civilization of the desert and Khaenri'ah so they were able to pick up some good scraps.

The further you get from Sumeru, the lower the technology gets. Liyue, Mondstadt, and Inazuma are the furthest away and have the lowest tech, less scraps to work with.

Don't forget that giant robots exist in this world. Just not every region embraced them. Each civilization that got too advanced got destroyed.

Khaenri'ah got destroyed
Desert civ got destroyed.
Fontaine almost gets destroyed.
Natlan is in the process of being constantly being attacked.
Natlan dragon civ destroyed.
Natlan northern region destroyed

Ayato, Ayaka, Ayano. Real creative with those "not-Japan" names, aren't we HoYo?

Ifa is the saurian vet guy that was mentioned in a few quests, he's listed in the way that 4*s usually are. Looks like this:

Hopefully ??? is Sumeru Mummy girl or Fontaine goth jailer girl.

I'm sure there's all kinds of lore and stuff in the game to neatly explain why tech is nation dependent, but I still find it rather flimsy.

The Akademiya outlawed robot research huh? Dang, if only there was a nation bordering them where they could just... go, to research that stuff anyway. Sumeru's researchers are all over Teyvat and we know they don't mind breaking the rules. They could catch some robot bugs or fish and bring 'em back. Those don't seem to need electric energy.

You could easily poke similar holes in each explanation for inconsistent tech.

Do we see any non-vision users use guns? (honest question).
It's heavily implied in the Roses and Muskets event that regular people can use guns too, although I don't think that's shown on screen.

Tighnari's character quest was about a guy that broke the rules and the scara robot tech showed others broke the rules too. They kept the good stuff for themselves and squashed anyone that wasn't in their club.

I think it's implied that the Khaenri'ah bots are powered by dangerous things that helped lead to the downfall of the nation. The giant golem cores were sealed specifically because their power sources were too dangerous. even without the bots they were powering.

Even if they went to Fontaine, their bots still depended on Fontain's "electricity". They don't go into how long their "batteries" last or if there's a range from the Oratrice. After the Fontaine archon quest, do they explain if the Oratrice is still making electricity after the apocalypse is averted?

I still think there's a stigma to using too advanced tech due to the ruins of all the advanced civilizations from before.

So an "official" reply has come out about Star Rail's "new banner rotation" thing, which was supposed to be the same in Genshin's upcoming banner scheduling changes. Turns out it was false/a lie (at least for Star Rail). Both new characters won't be coming out at the first phase and staying through the entire patch. No word on Genshin officially yet.
sgbouiq0a85e1.jpg

Translation:
"The schedule for character and light cone activity transitions will align with the past version. For example,'BIG herta' in the first half of the version. , the character 'Aglaea' will be available in the second half of the version. Thank you for the attention, Trailblazers." source --- CN hoyolab

Also this could just be a misdirection or the case of somebody too low on the totem pole to know anything about it giving an answer, so guess we'll see.

Tighnari's character quest was about a guy that broke the rules and the scara robot tech showed others broke the rules too. They kept the good stuff for themselves and squashed anyone that wasn't in their club.
That guy in Tighnari's quest was hiding in a cave, and no-one found him. You're telling me people can't just go to Fontaine and secretly do their research there? Who's gonna know, let alone 'squash' them? How can they keep the 'good stuff' for themselves when Fontaine eclipses them in every way possible? Did Sumerians just not know about Fontaine's tech? How is that explained?

I think it's implied that the Khaenri'ah bots are powered by dangerous things that helped lead to the downfall of the nation. The giant golem cores were sealed specifically because their power sources were too dangerous. even without the bots they were powering.
I'd say it's rather the other way around. Khaenri'ah got too powerful so the gods crushed them before they could be challenged.

After the Fontaine archon quest, do they explain if the Oratrice is still making electricity after the apocalypse is averted?
Fontaine's power source is never explained in that much detail, so who knows. You'd think swarms of researchers from Sumeru and Natlan would go there to figure out if they could harness that power for themselves or somehow replicate it for their own energy sources. They both have reasons to do that. But I guess we're just supposed to accept that each nation has their own unique macguffin that the other nations have no interest in.

By the way I checked reddit and saw that thread about the leaked characters. Man they're salty there about the lack of husbandos.

There you go. Either the robot developers are either hiding in caves or part of the scara robot club. Not widespread.

Fontaine's power source was generated by their archon and was under lock and key. That's what lead to the first Ace Attorney quest for the Fatui to try and get access to it.

There you go. Either the robot developers are either hiding in caves or part of the scara robot club. Not widespread.
That makes no sense. An academy that pursues knowledge and has tons of researchers suddenly has limited interest in their neighboring countries that have more advanced tech than them. It's just not believable. Especially with the Akasha system which was supposed to contain as much info as possible.

There you go. If tech becomes too advanced, the civilization goes away.
Well that's just a theory. People in Teyvat don't seem afraid of technology. No one talks about that at all.

Fontaine's power source was generated by their archon and was under lock and key. That's what lead to the first Ace Attorney quest for the Fatui to try and get access to it.
The power source, yeah, but not its robots or other tech. They could bring that stuff and find a way to make it work with Phlogiston to help fight the Abyss for example. Kameras are Fontaine tech and they're widespread in Teyvat, so they're capable of creating tech that doesn't rely on Fontaine's power sources. Heck, Inazuma's furnace was made by a guy from Fontaine, so that kind of collaboration does happen and should be more common (or explained why it isn't).

This game has all that lore about ancient times and detailed descriptions of events and characters we've never seen, but they don't explain why no one is interested in Fontaine's robots. It's just not consistent. And from what I read, it seems Snezhnaya is gonna be the most advanced nation so by then they'll have even more inconsistencies to explain.

More medium to bad changes to Mav. Less normal attack effectiveness to build her gauge (means more reliance on Natlan characters), and a boost to Constellation 2.

VdsDf8Z.png

Man I know we go through these doomposts every leak, but this one hits me personally. I don't think they could have made her kit less desirable to me than if her Burst changed her into the conquistador character. Motorcycle focus, reliance on specific characters, nerfed outside of her own region, mostly a DPS in a crowded niche (pyro).

I was really hoping for a stylish off-field Pyro applicator/buffer to dethrone Benny and Xiangling, then major on-field DPS at C4 or C6. This satisfies NONE of my wants.

*edit*

Looks like Captino fans are in the pits too. I'm expecting he dies/gets destroyed for good but before he burns away you see his true face smiling that his curse is gone in the Natlan final quest, so I wasn't expecting much from him anyways, but a lot of (mostly mentally ill people) are going to be upset about this one. When he was revealed to be a corpse with a skinny beanpole body and a mullet, my hype went way down anyways.

I'm kind of with the mentals on this lol, since I would be extremely disappointed if we didn't get our hands at playable Cap'.

I'm 99% sure he's going to croak in place of Maviuka, but we're still in bullshit-no-jutsu land, Teyvat, they could somehow bring him back and spin it if they wanted to. He's probably the most compelling character in Natlan, I'm sure Hoyo would like to cash-in on that as well.

Unless they were making a new body type for him, he was gonna be a disappointment anyway. I found his contributions in the quests really boring. He was introduced as an antagonist but flipped sides real easy and became a super cooperative exposition spewer. Not a great loss IMO.

So those Mav leaks were fake, the beta v4 changes don't do either of those things, they mostly buff her C6 which was already overloaded. Fucking HoYo, I swear. I'd imagine what we see now is what we get. Next week is the last week for changes and they've been historically just fine tuning the %s at this point, so not much else to see on that front. I went fully from C6R1 to C0 maybe R1. I might actually look at grabbing some Citlali constellations instead. I'm so bummed out about that fucking motorcycle gameplay. I've been watching some leakers do various team comps and it just looks so fucking stupid and boring despite how weird it is. To make an Archon a boring DPS in an oversaturated DPS element, with a forced gimmick playstyle sure does suck when it's my favorite one.

Anyways, I finally had some time to play Genshin last night, did the FloatyFeather clan quests or whatever they're called. I really need those flowers from the limited time reward for Mavuika, and it's a HUGE pain in the ass to farm them. Probably much easier if you roll Chasca like they obviously want you to for this region, but that's kind of bullshit. The bird saurians feel fucking awful to maneuver.

Anyways, in the quest, I knew Allpa was going to be the villain from the minute the jetpacks showed up and she uncharacteristically showed support for them, but the dungeon location was a cool surprise that I didn't see coming. It had a really great vista at the start, too. I also did part of the Archon quest before taking a break, and Capitano showing up with the Deus Machina was kinda bullshit. I'm still mad we didn't get to see the disfigured zombie face, but I suppose this is a family game. I still feel like if they weren't beholden to China censorship laws, they could have shown it. You can make it grotesque without making it disgusting, just look at Miyazaki's designs in the Souls games for an example.

Interestingly it sounds like they used either Native American or Central/South American native VAs in the EN dub for the Feather clan. They weren't very talented as actors but they had a very distinct way of annunciating, and I thought it was a valiant effort considering the region. Wonder if any of the Fontaine characters were French (besides the FR dub of course).

Started that Citlali quest before I run out of time, and I really liked the visual puzzle minigame. The Co-Op one sucks and I never want to see it again, but at least this one is co-op instead of PVP like the last time they ran the "push slimes into the net" shit. Combat part isn't even worth mentioning. Citlali is cute though, and Ororon actually got a few laughs from me this time. I liked him a lot better in this quest than I did in his Archon quest involvement. It's nice to see some characters actually have some depth to them besides just being the most boring blank slate to roll out one characteristic and then hammering on that until their patch is done. Citlali feels like the most developed Natlan character we have interacted with. We literally got inside her head for a while, then we've seen her interests and capabilities instead of just hearing about them in some other character's "about" voice lines. She's also very expressive visually and with her mannerisms/expressions, and the EN actress is fantastic for her.

MHY gonna regret that they'll miss out on all that dough. I haven't seen many positive reactions to her kit online, but I'm not sure if China/Japan don't mind it as much.

Current leaks indicate Iansan will be a 4-star in favor of Varesa (whoever that may be) so I'm a bit disappointed too. Also, that Japanese girl's name is gonna be Mizuki. Makes a lot more sense. She's apparently set to be a standard 5-star of the Anemo element. Gonna have to wait all the way till September to get my hands on her, most likely.

Yeah, that was neat. Wish it had gone on a bit longer with perhaps some more elaborate puzzles.

I was pretty disappointed with this event. Last year around this time we had the Roses and Muskets event which was much more fleshed out and had a better story, minigames and character introduction(s). Maybe things just lined up differently back then, but in comparison this event is really lacking.

Well it's really only the hyper-savvy fans that have any idea what her kit is at this point, the huge (spending) playerbase just knows she has a sick ass art on a motorcycle. People that follow the game closely enough to be mindful of kits and leaks are probably a tiny section of the playerbase. I don't think her banner will disappoint financially for HoYo, but I think a lot of people are going to be disappointed once they get their hands on her. Maybe not, maybe that type of gameplay is perfect for your average Genshin player. Guess we'll find out.

For me personally though, everything went wrong outside of the design and Archon quest bits for her. Such a humongous bummer.

Man 4* Iansan is kinda a kick to the nuts for you. Hopefully this means she has a shot at being free from Natlan shenanigans as you hoped. I didn't notice until doing the recent archon quest, where she has more screen time, but she is wearing a fucking virgin killer sweater, lol.

I like MIzuki better than Ayano, so I'm cool with that change. Nice to see more Standard 5*s added too. I kinda wish they'd do more of those more often. Losing 50/50 for me has been absolute pain for a while since I have all but Dehya at c6.
Yeah, that was neat. Wish it had gone on a bit longer with perhaps some more elaborate puzzles.
Agreed, they wasted a great area by making it mostly empty and quickly passed through. I even expected we'd see a Oh shit the floating lab is blowing up, we gotta have Trial Chasca fly us out on her gun amidst exploding stuff through the phlogiston rings. Missed opportunity there, considering we'll likely never return or see it again.
I was pretty disappointed with this event. Last year around this time we had the Roses and Muskets event which was much more fleshed out and had a better story, minigames and character introduction(s). Maybe things just lined up differently back then, but in comparison this event is really lacking.
Roses and Muskets was one of the best events we've gotten in a long, long time though. Hell that sniper minigame alone was better than most events we got in the past year. This event was standard/disappointing from an interactivity level, but at least the character moments were above the last few Natlan events. I wonder where the 'patch event' budget went in Natlan. Maybe they funneled more funds into the Archon quests, which were vastly improved in my opinion. Just talking about quality, length, writing, dynamics, not the subjective bits of if you like the Natlan story better or whatever.
Is this thread cursed or something? So many active members here end up getting banned. Who's next? He'll be sorely missed in any case.
Well for better or worse, it's not this thread killing anybody, it's mostly politics or crossing the line in a news/world event thread.

I may not even pull for Mav, just going to keep waiting and saving. She’ll rerun soon enough and hopefully by then we’ll get leaks and something will spark my interest.
I’m ready for 6.0, let’s go.

I'm good with not seeing what's under the masks. Probably wouldn't live up to the hype anyway.

Sometimes less is more.

In the 2011 movie, The Darkest Hour, the characters are dealing with invisible aliens in a cat/mouse trying to stay alive. When they finally reveal what the aliens look like, the 2011 CGI and design they picked for the aliens didn't live up to the build up.

I suppose, but with HoYo's budget and art team, it's not like they would have had to make it look like a 2011 CGI face. I'm just curious what the Curse of Immortality looks like. Is it zombie, is it a melted face, just a skull, etc.

Anyways, Chasca official birthday art:

Oh I see the new banners are up, maybe I’ll just pull Neuvil, he’s still like the most busted character isn’t he?

Edit.
Said fuck it and got him. Just starting not to care any more lol only 50 pulls too so that’s nice

I pulled for Neuvi's weapon and got Zhongli's spear shoved up my ass. Did get it after few more pulls though.

Now going to build Neuvi properly. This is what I have now. Tell me what all stats should be improved and what is a decent range to aim for.
