It's been really quiet for me since RDR2. Was hoping for Control and Sekiro at some point but them having new editions coming out probably means that is not happening anytime soon.

Microsoft are missing a trick with GP.

If they want me to sign up for life then they need to get third party AAA titles on Gamepass from day one. Also they need to stay on Gamepass for life. None of this in and out of rotation BS. I don't want to pay for a service where a game can vanish before I'm done with it.

Never checked the full list as I dont have xbone, but did now of curiosity

3-4 games on that list that I would want to play, maybe 5-10 games that are good but I already own on other platforms.

And those 3-4 games are so old that I could buy used copies for 5€ each.

Probably some more that are good but never heard, and I would not pay more than 1-9€ for most of them.

Conclusion: GP would not offer much for me, so it is not as incredible as people claim, to all of us. ~250 games is a lot, but if player wants only handfull = not so valuable list

Good for them that find tens of interesting games!

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

Game Pass isn't for everyone, that's true. You said there are 5-10 games that you had interest in on the service but you already owned on other platforms so you're already on the other side of the value proposition for the service. Now imagine if you didn't own those 10 games and could have played them via Game Pass. Even those 3-4 games you could buy used copies of for 5€ that's still 15-20€ which is more than the price of a month of Game Pass. As long as you could subscribe - play the games you're interested in - then unsubscribe, you'd still be coming out ahead with a short subscription.

I'm kinda in the same boat as you (I have 450+ games on Xbox, thousands of digital games on other platforms) yet I still stay subscribed to Game Pass because there are still a lot of games on the service I find interesting. Stuff like Streets of Rage 4 or Blair Witch that launched on GP day one are always a nice bonus too.

then the service is probably not for you and your best value is to just save your money and buy games that you're confident you will want to play and finish at your leisure.
Gamepass is best suited as an 'extended' demo type service, where you can try titles to see if you like them then buy at a discount if you like them. Or, if you have the free time, finish them within 2-3 months and move on to the next title.

Has there been any talk of Microsoft Flight Sim for the xbox one or series x?

As weird as it sounds, I saw them reply to a comment about that same question, on a MS Flight Sim video, saying they were gonna announce something about it eventually.
It was a video on the official Xbox channel

Game Pass is really starting to remind me of those stupid Humble Bundles some PC players obsess over. Like it's so much fodder that youd never purchase IRL, but suddenly you have to have it because its bundled with a copy of Devil May Cry V or something.

I see the appeal, especially for first party, but ultimately I think I'm better off just buying the few games I know I'll actually play.

I guess you sub to Game Pass for the first party and just kinda enjoy the rest as supplemental titles which may or may not remain on the service. That's not so bad I guess.

Did you check EA Play's list as well? That's included from next gen launch.

The main advantage of Game Pass is first party titles releasing there day in date. These titles, also, stay permanently.

Lol that's not "missing a trick". I'm sure everyone's thought of that absolutely ideal situation.

The trick will be in figuring out how they pay third parties for all that content to be available all the time, without having to raise the price of Gamepass through the roof.

I had actually misunderstood how Game Pass worked when I first got it. For whatever reason, I was under the assumption that as long as I had a game saved to my console or external and was still subbed to the service, that I'd be able to play it, even it it were removed eventually.

That wasnt the case, and I realized I dont play through things quickly enough to make proper use of the service. Same for Humble Bundle in a sense.

More power to those that do though. Both provide great deals overall.

Yeah, it was kind of a shame that these classic PC games were not available earlier on Xbox, but alas, here we are now.

Several great additions for Gamepass... just because we own a lot of this stuff doesn't mean it isn't good content. I'm especially liking that roundup of Halloween event perks and stuff. Will look at that with Minecraft Dungeons event with the kiddos.

Microsoft are one of the richest companies on earth. They could afford the hit for a year or so until people started to sub. Could you imagine how many subs they'd get with that type of service?

GamePass Ultimate is already close to $200 every year. Of course, the vast majority of us paid $1, but MS is counting on us to forget to cancel when our subscription time elapses.

I have replayed Grim Fandango and Full Throttle on PC recently, but Day of the Tentacle is a go on Gamepass.

Deep Rock Galactic sounds perfect for my weekly co op sessions with my sister and brother. I feel like I should check out Celeste to see if it lives up to the hype.

Oh everyone would subscribe to it, most people would probably swap platforms for it.

Which would lead to third parties wanting a bigger cut because no one would be buying the games anymore, so they need to make up for it.

As you say Microsoft are one of the richest companies in the world. If they thought it was just as simple as taking a hit for a year they'd of done it already.

The thing that surprised/disappointed me was the original Maniac Mansion in the Day of the Tentacle. I had never played the PC version and had only played it on the NES. The NES version has so much amazing music that makes the game for me, and it’s nowhere on the PC version. Other than that, I will definitely play through them again!

Does Deep Rock Galactic scale with the number of players? I only intend to play it with 1 friend and I don't want to play with two other randoms.

Interesting. My first time playing MM was in C64, though I have a quite blurry recall of that. I dont even recall if it was 16 color or just CGA.
Regarding MM2, I played it originally without audio lol. I got my Sound Blaster some time after I finished it.

Yes, and a walkthrough handy. The dialog, music, acting, plot and artwork are amazing. Some of the puzzles are really fun, but a few take the difficulty too far.

Edit: now that I think of it, you control the character directly; it not a point-and-click exactly, so a controller might actually be better. That's how I did it back in the day on PC.

Nah. If I was in charge of MS that's how I'd run Gamepass.

Phase one would be to throw six months free Gamepass with every Xbox console sale.

Phase 2

to keep people subbed I'd also ensure that all MS exclusive games and a few TP titles were exclusive to Gamepass. No physical disc, not option to purchase via download or Steam. No. If you want the game then you sign up for life. Stop paying? Then bam. You've lost you're whole library until you sub again. I'd also add a clause that states if you do not sign up again within a year you lose your library for good.

Phase 3 - increase the price to £70 per month, or the cost of one game. It's still an amazing deal, but you're getting thousands of games for the cost of one. Microsoft is then getting £840 per year, for just one person.

£840 a person? Now take into consideration that hundreds of millions would sign up to this and that is how you pay for the third party content.

Boom.

Microsoft. Sign me up!

Me too always on my todo list.

Also want to try the old lucasarts games.
Tried trim fandango and kinds liked it. Very obtuse puzzle game. I hear day of the Tentacle is much better in puzzles.

Last game I played like Day of the Tentacle was the Monkey Island Remakes, which I enjoyed. Might give it a shot but I'd be surprised if it grabs me.

Don't particularly fancy any of these offerings.

Enjoyed Celeste (was a gold game previously) until it got too hard about 2/3 of the way through. So I enabled all the cheats and sailed through it 😂. Felt really dirty!

Ya it’s amazing TBH. Just an amazing platformer overall. You’ll never get stuck on what to do or where to go. The only thing in your way is challenging platforming. Die and try again instantly. No bullshit at all

Awesome. It's funny how some of my favorite new games are similar to games I loved growing up. Independent developers are doing such a great job recapturing/improving upon what made 2d platformers so much fun.

The Messenger
Super Meat Boy
Hollow Knight
Shovel Knight

Im sure I've forgotten some. They all scratch the same itch and its hard for me personally to burn out on them.

To stay on topic, just scrolling through gamepass list, I'd be welcome to more retro inspired 2d platformers and action games for gamepass.

I havent played Ori yet and that is my bad...
