[Weekly software and hardware sales figures] "Dragon Quest 3 Remake" tops the charts for the second week in a row! "Disney Music Parade", "Stray" and "Marvel vs. Capcom" also ranked [11/18-11/24]

Sales ranking announced by Famitsu. This time we bring you a summary of the estimated weekly sales figures for game software and hardware from November 18th to November 24th, 2024.

The HD-2D version of Dragon Quest III: And Into the Legend... is doing well, with the Nintendo Switch version ranking first and the PlayStation 5 version ranking third. This marks the second consecutive week that it has topped the charts. The cumulative sales of both versions is 913,132 units and we can expect continued sales in the future.

A number of new titles were also released this week with Disney Music Parade Encore, a rhythm action game that features classic Disney tunes ranking in at No. 5.

Next in 7th place is the Switch packaged version of Stray, an action adventure game in which you play as a stray cat trying to escape from an underground world and in 9th place is MARVEL vs. CAPCOM Fighting Collection Arcade Classics which includes six fighting games and one action game being ported to Japan for the first time, making for an impressive lineup.

The next one we want to pick out is Momotaro Dentetsu World ~The Earth Revolves on Hope!~ which is in 8th place. It has attracted attention again due to a major update on November 14, 2024, and has significantly improved its ranking from 28th place last week, returning to the top 10.

I pity those who play Stray on a Switch. It's not really that much about gameplay, and the visual downgrade to get it running on Switch is really significant.

PS4 Pro (Famitsu)

Week 45, 2016 - 65.194 / NEW
Week 46, 2016 - 11.116 / 76.310
Week 47, 2016 - 7.490 / 83.800

PS5 Pro (Famitsu)

Week 45, 2024 - 78.086 / NEW
Week 46, 2024 - 13.878 / 91.964
Week 47, 2024 - 10.128 / 102.092

Demand for the PS5 Pro so far has been surprising given the price. I hope it gets a Monster Hunter Wilds bundle in February.

Decent hold for the ps5 pro

What's interesting is that this is one of the first times, if not the first time ever I've seen the digital edition outsell the standard edition. That tells me that many people are deciding that the standard edition doesn't represent the best value. That the digital edition is significantly cheaper and the Pro version is more powerful. I think that's been a different story in the US, especially with the standard getting a discount for the holidays.

Nintendo big season about to begin.

*PS4 Pro had stock issues by that time in Japan (Week 47,2016).

Or simply does it have to do with the 30th anniversary edition going this week?

🤷

All the theories on how PS5 Pro was gonna flop are basically gone at this point. Even those first week sales being stronger only due to "enthusiasts all bought it this week" make no sense at this point.

Monster Hunter releasing next year as basically an exclusive will do wonders for both PS5 models tbh.

So selling 10K in his third week on the market without any stock issues is a success now?? Really? We are talking about a new Playstation console in Japan not the Oculus Quest or something like that 🤣🤣🤣 Btw, the PS4 Pro was considered a fail over there too…

This isn't a new playstation console....

It's a more powerful revision to what is out there. People aren't going to buy this like a brand new console.

The PS4 Pro made up a higher portion of sales in Japan than elsewhere. It wasn't a "fail".

It's outselling its previous console (PS4 Pro) at a much higher price. I don't see how it's not a success lol.

*New product then 🤷‍♂️ No matter how you look at is not a success product… Third week.
What is success for this?

It's an even more pricier to the ps4 pro yet selling similar units in a region where playstation is weaker then last gen that sounds a success.

That’s doesn’t make it a success… The PS4 Pro wasn’t considered a success at all… Btw like i said before, the PS4 Pro had stock issues by that time. You can check the old threads of that time.

According to who? You? Do you know Sony's sales expectations for this niche expensive product?

Do you even know how to measure the success of a product like this? It's not a Gaf user that determines that.

All we know is this: It's selling better than its predecessor at a higher price when everyone said this was an unnecessary release that no one would want.

So the Xbox Series is a success in Japan due to Microsoft expectations over there… Ok then.

In 3 weeks this expensive pro model has sold around a 3rd of what Series X has sold in 4 years .

PS5 Pro 100k in 3 weeks , Xbox Series X 300k in 4 years.

DForce

NaughtyDog Defense Force

PS4 Pro was a success for Sony
PS5 Pro is currently outpacing the PS5 Pro in Japan.

It shouldn't be that hard to figure out.

Pretty sure they do not need any pity, they will just simply play the game, unaware of anthing they are missing.

Most switch players won’t give a damn about stray, it’s one game in a packed release period. On PlayStation probably made more of a splash due to the slim pickings. Hell yesterday saw 5 of my preorders on switch all release so it’s not on my priority list. I’m drowning in switch games to play.

No, it wasn't particularly considered that. Why are you always like this in any sort of PlayStation discussion around here?
Yeah, just looked it up. Some good promos on both PS5 HW and 1st party SW.

Sales start tomorrow so there should be a noticeable bump come next week.

I'm waiting to see Christmas promos as Black Friday isn't particularly big in Japan, but yes, those are good ones.

This is really unfortunate. Between the Pro selling more than expected in Japan given the price and these deals, the sales collapse some crazy Nintendo fans are dreaming to see will have to wait!!! :lollipop_flores::lollipop_thescream::messenger_grinning_squinting: "pie_tears_joy:

If you want to know how the sales crowd was feeling about PS5 Pro's performance in Japan, look at no other than this thread:
We're at week 3 of November 2024 and general PS5 sales are 137.585 units, literally only one user had a prediction higher than this, and that's with one more week left for additional data.

Eh the low sales of the base models isn't a good thing, they need to do an official price cut and just eat the currency conversion losses.

It's very good for the high price, definitely wasn't expected to sell this well.
