In the spirit of Halloween and Allhallotide, we thought we would start October with a frightfully awesome new reveal. Prepare to meet the most terrifying enemy in the EXODUS universe—The Mara Yama 💀 Do you know what fear is…THE MARA YAMA REVEAL CINEMATIC TRAILER

We need in-game footage...

Here's the official Mara-Yama reveal description:

"Navigating Centauri is no easy task, with the threat of many powerful enemies whose technological ingenuity far exceeds our own waiting to wipe us from existence. Humanity must navigate this dark and dangerous sci-fi universe with extreme caution.

"Among the most terrifying threats are the Celestials we call the Mara-Yama. No one knows what the Mara-Yama call themselves. They have no known territory or homeworld, living in massive space citadels secreted in desolate regions of space. Waiting. Hunting."

McConaughey plays a major role in the "Mass Effect" creators' extraordinary gaming endeavor: He's an all-knowing spokesperson and timeless observer named C.C. Orlev, a character that we'll be hearing much more about in future updates from the gaming division of Hasbro's Wizards of the Coast.
Per Archetype's press notes on the plot of their AAA title: "In 'Exodus,' humanity, having fled a dying Earth, has found a new home in a hostile galaxy — here, we are the underdogs fighting for our survival. Players step into the role of The Traveler, humanity's last hope. Your job is to journey to distant stars on the hunt to steal alien weapons and technology from the most powerful enemy in the universe: the Celestials. There is one catch, however — time dilation.

"Days for the Travelers on interstellar missions are decades back home. The sacrifices players make to protect their loved ones will impact their entire civilization for generations to come. Returning home, players will face the consequences of their choices, and must determine: How much are they willing to sacrifice?"

"Exodus" is expected in 2025 for PC, PS5, and Xbox X|S.

These short cinematic trailers need to be earned. Once you release the first game in your franchise and it's good and it got a fanbase you can maybe start doing stuff like this. But it does literally nothing to build excitement or interest for a new IP that hasn't even shown gameplay.

Well, Drew Karpyshyn the senior writer for KOTOR and Mass Effect 1 and 2 is on board. For me Atleast, it means this game has a chance.

Does James Ohlen do not ring a bell? 🤔🤔

I mean, having Drew tingles my balls to no end, but Ohlen, one of the founders of Archetype, is the real genius behind this and LOTS of the BEST western RPGs of all time.

I do not trust these guys. No gameplay whatsoever after a year and nothing but a bunch of lore dumps for a game that hasn't even come out. Unfortunately, whenever you hear big names like Drew go independent, most of the time all they do is release duds, or nothing at all and shut down later. I'm not convinced.

I'll keep an eye on it, but the trailer means nothing to me without gameplay. Give me a sniff of it at least.

Loomy

Thinks Microaggressions are Real
Green Grey Blob: The Game.

I guess this helps drive recruitment? Because I doubt it's driving excitement in anyone.

So far it looks promising. I need to see a section of gameplay and a dialogue scene to really feel that Mass Effect feeling.

Gameplay looked fine. Like what do people want from a 3rd person game?

People want new ips and complain about remasters, remakes and sequels. Anything new is instantly shat on.

If it's mass effect inspired. It's going to be a 3rd person shooter .
They just want to complain.

Don’t worry about them, find the games and devs you’re interested in, and find your own path to fun.

I am replaying Mass Effect Trilogy and I feel sad. I guess this game is our only hope to have something that could be a little bit similar because clearly, Bioware has lost his magic and I dont have any hope in their next entry

This looks promising but they’ve hardly showed anything yet so not sure how it could be ready in 2025.

Meh, until we see a lot more I am not being too hopeful. I also suspect this will still be a “modern audience” game, but I hope I am wrong.

And yeah, no way is this making 2025.
