Famitsu recently interviewed key members of the Nintendo mystery adventure Emio—The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club, notably producer Yoshio Sakamoto and coordinator and writer Kaori Miyachi.

This lengthy discussion delves into several topics surrounding the release, such as what led to the title’s development, its characters, and even the ending.

However, the end of the interview does contain a significant exchange with both parties. Sakamoto comments that despite feeling the team has done the best they can with the first new entry in the series in roughly 35 years, he isn’t sure if Famicom Detective Club is complete yet.

Sakamoto is pondering how they can further evolve the series, particularly as an interactive drama. Additionally, he would like to keep working with Miyachi should the series continue.

Miaychi herself acknowledges the pressure of being a successor of sorts to this IP. Still, there are characters and possibilities she would like to explore, so she’s looking forward to the future of Famicom Detective Club.

I tried the demo. The drawing and animations are super high quality. Loved it. Just need to find the time and see when I can buy it and play it.

Don’t sleep on this, GAF.

I really need to get into the series. I haven't played the two remakes.
I haven't played the remakes either, but I did pick up Emio, and it's one of the games I'm playing through every other day before going to bed (I'm currently on Chapter 7).

If you enjoy murder mystery stories and doing detective investigation, you will def like this one. The devs put a ton of attention to detail into both the animations and the backgrounds. Everything is also voiced, including the main character, and ofc the writing is great as well.
