Played for about 20 minutes. Gameplay is pretty fun. Camera is way too narrow/close to the character, especially for a game where you're being attacked from all angles.

PC port seems to be good. Looks good, runs well, supports ultrawide. Even has a Steam Deck preset. Not sure I'll try it on that.

I wonder if you can pull the camera back on PC? If not, that’s a bit of a deal breaker.

this actually looks really fucking dope. I really love how many units there are on the battlefield. if they manage to create a sense of an overwhelming force of bodies blocking your way, unless your slaughter them, this might turn out to be quite fun. I never really bothered with the musou games before, besides that one persona spin off (which was great), but this is clearly going for something very different and I always wanted to get into this.

How is the gamefeel/responsiveness and framerate?

Really good. Probably the best its ever been.

It feels like DMC at times. I have skipped quite a bunch of DW games so idk if this is all new but I like you can repel a charging group with a timed parry and then do a finisher on them. You can also do finish moves on captains. Everything is very flashy and stylish while the enemy numbers are quite huge.

Skyline, if you have any older consoles still hooked up, I recommend Dynasty warriors : Fist.of.the North Star (One of the few musou games that actually has weight when hitting the enemy), Gundam warriors 2, Samurai warriors 4 (PS4 BC) and even the Berserk one (another musou game with good and heavy hitback)

Man, I failed the demo mission twice lol. I have to step up my game for the full version, oof. Also, not sure why so many are hating the protag? I actually quite like his design.

Anyway the game seems very polished (awful English dubbing notwithstanding) but even at 1440p the UI elements are all very blury? Does anyone else have the same issue?

It looks amazing but the fact that you play as one unknown soldier instead of the 80+ named characters is an annoyance.

You do get to control other characters to a certain degree, you select a partner you can switch to during the missions at certain points

Man you missed out! Hyrule Warriors and Fate Extella Link (PC) are up there as the best in the franchise.

Blown away by this demo. Its still Dynasty Warriors with all the same faults but the amount of improvements are really impressive. Movement feels smooth. Animations are hugely improved. Good menus for super moves and troop commands. 1 v 1 fights feel casual but still engaging with last minute evades slowing the camera. When your troops all rush forward and you're in the crowd you can feel the energy. Seems like a very solid casual hack and slash.

Dialogue, voice acting and OST are rough though

The enemy army finally used a grand tactic on me. Holy shit, it looks cool. This is so much better than I expected.

Players are already styling Lu Bu. I can't even beat him yet.

But you can see some of the things you can do while fighting. Its pretty much like a character action game. And different weapons have different move sets. Its impressive considering this is a DW.

I died before even getting to Lu Bu. Unheard of in this series.

Haven't played one of these in ages but I must say I really enjoyed the demo.
The fighting is pretty fun, it's casual and button mashy but still shows some depth, specially when fighting special enemies. Lu Bu in particularly surprised me because he actually felt like a proper boss battle where I needed to learn his moves, find good timings to attack and take advantage of the evades and parries. It actually took me like 6 tries to kill him on the regular difficulty which is surprising for a game like this (in the Zelda and One Piece Musous I've played you usually take down bosses fairly easily).

Visually it also looks pretty nice given the scale of everything. It also seems to run decently in terms of framerate and resolution (probably not locked 60fps though).

Not a day 1 purchase for me but it's definitely on my list now.

Man, they really did it, a Dynasty warriors with "commercial" potential, what a time to be alive ! 😁

- Closer camera is actually really nice as it makes things more "up close and personal" (and not in a bad way like in GOW where you don't see shit).

- Actual haptics/rumble in a DW game, LOOOOL, Hell must have frozen over :messenger_beaming::messenger_beaming:
It's actually really nice as it gives the game more "oomph".

- "Boss" duels that actually require moveset memorization !

- Number of on-screen enemies and the closer camera really give a chaotic feel during battles (which in this type of game is welcome).

- Kick ass OST as usual

- Way more in-battle options/game systems like troop commands, actual parries (!), proper lock-on, armour break, finishing moves etc etc

- 1st time where a Musou game actually feels "modern" in that the GFX aren't 2 gens behind, has HDR (!), accessibility options, checkpoints etc etc.

Also, performance is A-OK, it's not perfect but on the Pro at least you can play it in quality mode@120Hz (framerate is incredibly varied though since it jumps between 60-60 something - to 70 - 80 - 120 for a couple of secs and then back to 60), the only weird thing that I found is that the HUD is very/noticeably pixelated/low res.

And yes, the VO's are cheesy/hammy as ever 😁

Compared to all musou games out there so far, they really put some extra care/attention/love for this new installment and it shows, it's not niche anymore IMO like most musou games where every installment in the main series (DW/SW) felt almost like a re-skin with reused assets galore etc.

Gonna grab it 100% but, that MSRP...I don't know what they were thinking, they're gonna shoot themselves in the friggin' foot, this should have been 60 Eurodollars max, at 70, you're going to scare all new potential customers away.

Its not easy for sure. But it also has to do with your soldiers AI. They seem to die rather fast. You need to return to the lower left part to stop the invasion there, and then help the guy in the middle of the map. If he gives up the game stops.

I hope the rest of the game at least starts a bit more easy going. Though I didn't try easy mode yet. I like the gameplay loop of also having to parry yellow attacks for an advantage and the 1 v 1 vs Generals is a cool mechanic.

I can second this. Hyrule warriors (the first one) and Fate Extella Link are both great musou games.
Hyrule for its massive content and varied enemy types and Extella for its ridiculous number of enemies and special moves.

LOOOOOOOL
So it wasn't just me :messenger_tears_of_joy::messenger_tears_of_joy:

Must have restarted the final battle checkpoint about 10+ times and i still didn't manage to finish the demo.
What a far cry from previous DW games (even when played on hard), i like it since it doesn't feel like you're mowing through cardboard soldiers all the time now...

I actually didn't like the close camera. Is there a way to change that? If not I do hope they add that for the full game.

is waiting for Starfield 7
Is this game priced unusually higher than usual?

It's day one for me anyway since I've been playing dynasty warriors 3 since I was a little kid but this game is priced 20% higher than all AAA games. I had to do a double take when i saw the price tag. (it's $116.20 SGD. Equivalent to $86.8 USD).

Game looks great on the pro at 4k mode (120fps setting). Game rarely falls below the VRR range and mostly hovers around the low 50+ fps.

Devil May Cry-esque combat is a good idea when evolving Musou. Sometimes they throw good ideas into their other games like the Zelda ones and DQ, but the genre overall desperately needs more innovation.

It looks promising. I was waiting for DW9 Empires to go on sale. I didn’t care for the open world of DW9. Now I’ll wait for this. I was hoping DW would get a lot more technical with their combat or at most open it up to more customization.

This game rules.

It really has everything that ever made a battle feel like a "battle" throughout all of the previous games combined into one.

Okay, so typically i play DW like brainrot but this game actually takes skill and im down for it.

its wayyyy wayy better than the last ones except the combat interruptions are a bit excessive trying to showcase key points of the battle, thats prob my only complaint

damn. I gotta try this

the last time a Musou game was remotely challenging for me was Hyrule Warriors 1

I will try the demo soon, but really disappointed there is no co-op? Like what the hell? It’s a series staple. Not even online co-op?
