Big decisions that affect the story are few and far between, and the game will tell you exactly what they lead to before you pick. Decisions do, for the most part, carry real consequence, which is nice, but it would have been nicer if the game didn’t tell you that several times before you commit. These choices get rarer as time goes on, almost as if time to implement them ran out later in development.

the writing seems to assume no player can retain information for longer than a few seconds. Characters will endlessly repeat events that have just happened and point out things you’ve just seen, often by using the exact same words: “Our rogue necromancer might be behind that door.” “Well, I sure hope our rogue necromancer is behind that door!”

Wow I thought I was reading a review of Metaphor: Refantazio for a second there.

The problem is that we never know who are "shills" and who aren't....many many channels want to stay "onside" or in the "good books" with developers and will never give honest criticism as they worry it will hurt the relationship with devs in future, so they potentially lose the chance to get shipped out to early access events or review copies of games early etc...its hard for a consumer to fully trust ANY channel or review website because of this.

I agree, although I'd add that sites without access (e.g., review codes) are likely to be more reliable. Unfortunately, those reviews come later in the process. The ones we will hear today, and the ones people will discuss the most, will all be from "access" sites - sites with a vested interest in being nice to the developers.

I agree with the vid sentiment however this applies to all games not just Dragon Age. This isnt uncommon and its weird that only now all of a sudden because Dragon Age is woke people are bringing this up. Dragon Age will surely get flak but in a few months when a nonwoke game gets the same treatment from companies ppl are just going to ignore the sleazy marketing tactics. I hate to be that guy but then again i love being against everyone.

"Game is woke i disagree with reviews
Game is not woke i agree with reviews" is a dumb mentality to have. I will always be against critics no matter the game but some ppl here have some absurdist standards.

No it's suddenly a big thing because people holding back review copies is actually rare. Fextra said his last example was Cyberpunk. The only other example I can remember is Nintendo holding back review copies to Kotaku because they wrote an article telling them to pirate games on emulators a few months prior.

We hear about the threats, there reported on, this is very rare.

Paper thin political dissection topics... in a game with top scars...

Who would have guessed it 🤣.

But as always, we'll be the bad ones for pointing out how terrible it is.

Don't think, just consume.
I don’t think anyone sane has an issue when someone criticizes a part of a game that is bad. People dismiss criticism, when you trash an entire game over a scene or a single customization option that might make up less than .01% of an entire game.

"Inconsistent writing"

Sigh, I knew it. So much source material and lore and they still manage to write garbage. I was willing to put up with the Fortnite-look if the game at least had a good story, but now I have zero incentive to buy this. Shame.

It'll be around the 90s in Metacritics, mainly because of it's politics, the "courage" of being inclusive and creating a inclusive world where everyone/thing is accepted. Because that's the norm today at a journalistic level.
Remember: Journalists are nor only activists, they are also afraid of cancellation and losing their jobs. Do you put your trust there?

Anyways, it'll be interesting to check if I'm mistaken.

I think not. It will be lower, its not like Concord was in the 90's before it was pulled.

No way it hits the 90s. None of the other DA games have, and this one has some obvious flaws (e.g., quality of writing) that will stop it from hitting that level. I don't respect game journalists, but I don't think they are that hive-minded - to all vote the game into the 90s just because they applaud wokery. Scores will be inflated, but not by that much.

I guessed 80-84.

hedging their bets. If the game scores bad they were right and woke ideology ruined the entire game, if the game scores high the media are all woke apologists. I bet re is arguing if the game sells well it means a game being woke doesn’t affect sales, and if it sells bad it means all gamers are incels. It’s crazy how both sides don’t see how similar they both are.

After playing for 3 and a half hours #DragonAgeTheVeilguard :

- Terrible graphics.
- Boring and monotonous combat, they want to copy GOW but in a bad way.
- The game does not run at a constant 30 FPS, it drops and the screen freezes when there are many NPCs.
- Many of the dialogues are noticeably made with AI.
- Very linear, the options lead nowhere. (False free will).
- The creator of characters focused on the trans and LGBT community.
- Inclusive language, in Spanish subtitles.
- The characters move very robotic, they lack animations.
- The script doesn't make sense, neither do the quests, from one place to another killing bugs.
- Too much focus on homosexuality, lesbians, drags.
- Race swap everywhere.

It's a fucking piece of garbage as an RPG, stay away from this game, don't even buy it on sale, it's a pile of putrefaction created by people who have no fucking idea about video games!!

Nothing that some top surgery can’t fix.
I could have forgiven some of this nonsense if the game was incredible, lets see what the other reviews say but it is looking very mid. I was going to maybe pick it up at some point but probably not worth the time.
