Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Halo is heading in a new direction, with key headlines including a shift away from the Slipspace Engine to Unreal Engine 5, along with a studio rebrand - 343 Industries is now HALO Studios. John and Alex discuss the changes and go into depth on the Project Foundry UE5 demo.

The character comparison between Halo 5 and Infinite is ridiculous.

It honestly looks a generation behind compared to Halo 5.

John saying about Nanite and Lumen and me like 'WTF you want Halo running at 480p30?'

This game shouldn't be for the Series X. It should be a launch title for the next console.

I don't think this will help either.

I mean, talking about bump that hell up the hardware, while the main factor is optimize the software.

Next gen will be AMD again and next gen will be Unreal Engine 6.
At this point you folks just want a brute force. This is not what consoles are about.

If they don’t learn from Infinite then what else is there to say. You look at the initial Infinite announcement trailer to what we ended up with during that disastrous gameplay reveal. Just don’t set yourself up for failure once again.

And less talk about “research projects “ and all that fluff. Stay quiet until you have a game to showcase and make sure it’s in a good position to impress.

As Mr Phoney once said, “if we lose our way with Halo, we lose our way with Xbox”. Well you have, it’s time for change for the better across the board.

Friendly reminder that Fortnite with Nanite and Lumen on runs on Series X and S at 60fps. I think it's something like 60% of 4K on the former, too. Series S has some minor, targeted cut backs like VSM and SSR fall backs, but the geometry and GI are absolutely there at full framerate.

A current gen UE5 Halo can absolutely work with Nanite and Lumen at 60fps.

EDIT: STALKER 2 runs with good IQ at 60fps on Series X, too. Both are open world shooter UE5 games on Xbox consoles. Don't count it out based on the Slipspace bullshit they delivered with the last game.
