Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty | Review Thread

It does seem like ppl have short attention spans or something. All this talk like this is a goty.

Its dlc. For a game that was shit. Just poorly put together from story to city to perks, etc. Not well designed and definitely not what was promised.

Now, if they took their time with it ( I dont trust reviews) and it is actually good...then great. Its ONE step in the right direction.

And they cant even stick with it to further expand on the game after this when that was the plan. These guys dont get a pass from me.

I have no issues with people being excited about the expansion, I am also looking forward to it. I just find it amusing that people are touting these review scores as proof that CDPR is the best RPG developer in the industry or people comparing current state Cyberpunk to another certain RPG that just released a few weeks ago.
Okay let’s assume you are right, then what? What should we do now?? I feel like there is a thing about people here on Gaf who always have a hand on a pitchfork and want to burn the devs, Man Cyberpunk’s launch was shit but it is not the only shit launch in history, CDPR has continued to support the game and I and many others can tell you it is so much better now and that company actually spent a whole ass game’s budget in fixint this one and instead of being so negative and hateful towards them maybe be hopeful that they learned from this experience that almost ended them and they wont release another game in that state, that Is what I am gonna do.

It been nearly 3 years. It ok to let go of the truama this game caused for launching poorly.
By nearly all accounts now, it is fantastic now.

Version 2.0 should drop tomorrow. I will certainly start a new game.
Apparently Cyberpunk is good with a below 90 score and Starfield with 87 is a fail.

It's kinda funny how that one review from PC Invasion that just got posted brought the score down from a 90 to an 88. I didn't think a single negative review could bring a game's aggregate down a whole two points at this stage.

PC invasion also gave Forspoken an 8.5 so there's that. Has to be a clickbait reviewer. Forspoken would be worst game of the year for me if Gollum and Redfall didn't release this year.

That's why I just posted an image. No way I'm clicking that crap. I heard it was his first review from a friend of mine.

I'm glad I never touched the main game; it seems there's an update that changes its ending too. I can't wait to play Cyberpunk in its best form. First, Starfield, and maybe I can squeeze in Lies of Pi in between. Oh, I forgot I bought Baldur's Gate too! I didn't know it was going to be released around this time. What a busy year for gamers!

I'm curious how it's possible to give this game, which everyone seems to love, a score of 35. I've also read the review(that was his goal probably), and I haven't come across a critique that would warrant a 3.5 score.

So I wrote a poem;

I hate people who are obsessed with attention,
Shame on you, a magazine I've never heard before, PC invasion.

GOTY 2023 has arrived. And it's an expansion to GOTY 2020. Now, I paused Desynced to play Starfield, which I paused to play Lies of P, which I'll pause to play Cyberpunk, which I'll pause to play Lords of the Fallen. Man, haven't eaten this good in years.

We saw it with Starfield. And frankly, after the traction IGN's review got, I wasn't surprised to see other outlets pushing their scores lower. There's a lot of money to be made by being the significant outlier like this.

I guess I will have to pick it up - never got 30 mins in before rage refunding lol.

Cyberpunk 2077 base game sits at a 76 on OpenCritic though?

lol I was just going to say that.

Never forget, those same outlets tried to pretend nothing was wrong with that game when they reviewed it, only to then jump on the media hype train to bash it too, yet their review scores don't reflect any of that game's issues at launch.

Any idea where this fits within the base game? I don't have a save on PS5, wondering how much I need to play from the beginning to reach the expansion.

(I mean, I could read the reviews, but nah)
You do it after the voodoo boys (I can't remember their names right now lol) and a side quest opens up.

I've been waiting for this expansion to get back into the game. Played around 30 hours before dropping it previously. Going to have to wait until I've had my fill of Starfield, but this is looking like an awesome next game!

I really want to play this...buuut no way can my 3080 support overdrive on my new ultrawide.... And I refuse to go back to pleb lighting.

Cyberpunk had the shittiest launch ever and was delayed several times. Starfield launched without a hitch. Cyberpunk releasing this DLC means the game is finally playable as far as I'm concerned. Don't get me started on the bugs. Makes Bethesda bugs look amazing.

Besides Starfield is getting it's DLC stuff next year alongside Modding tools. Which will add hundreds of hours to Starfield much like it has with Skyrim, Fallout NV/4.

Fucking lol this industry indeed.

Truth.

As far as I can tell, Starfield is releasing as a complete concept. To even compare it to CP2077, would be like saying, in 3 years it will FINALLY have Ship battles and Ai will work or some shit.

I don't think people fully, 100% understand the issues many had with CP2077 and likely still do, its core concept isn't even what was first shown, it lacks so many of those RPG features, the developer themselves stopped calling it that and listed the genre as "action adventure" and removed RPG.

So I'll take what Starfield is doing any day of the week, as its issues are not massive concept, design or genre breaking or something.

Bethesda's DLCs add on to an existing idea, they do not add day 1 type shit like "oh yea so the Ai can use vehicles like we was trying to do 3 years ago, can you please forget that run" lol

I'm not against CDPR continuing support of the game, I'm against that these are not add ons, they are continued development closer to early access where the consumer is unaware that they are buying an incomplete product, many would have gladly supported CDPR INCLUDING MYSELF if they were just honest about it being an early access. Let the gamer know, BG3 was in early access and I completely skipped that and opted to just wait till it was done. If you are hype and you can't wait, you were forewarned, but at least those who played it after got a complete picture

Not fucking piecemeal a game for years part by part as they struggle with some basic elements. So its a bitter sweet type thing, I'm happy for those who never played it that get to play all of those elements complete and intact, but I feel sorry for those whole already saw the story and put 100 hours into the game and are burned out and are now being told 3 fucking years later "oh yea, here is the rest of the game for real, that will be $30 please" lol

So...maybe they could just make a complete game next time, even the 2 elements of cops and vehicle combat greatly alter that concept. Imagine if THAT is what was releasing for the first time in 2023, but I digress.

This year is packed so I got to skip it as I'd rather support the developers that made complete games this year, I hope you all enjoy it though!

Hopefully you are not talking about Bethesda Starfield, cause that game is missing a lot of promised features, but who m i to say something, everyone chooses their cup of copium that they like the most.

So is this seemlessly added to base game or standalone? Not sure if I want to play the base game again to get access to the DLC.

Like what? I covered a lot of the game and looked at many of the threads and for the most part, what they are saying the game is, is what the game is. Even the whole "you can travel across a planet" isn't actually wrong, so you'll have to be a bit specific to what you mean by "promised features", as in what exact feature did they say would be in the game, that isn't in the game?

If I shilled Cp2077 for years I'd be pissed right now, CDPR is just outright saying "yea this is the game you should play lmao, we redid everything"

But, ultimately, on some level, water under the bridge, the game is done. I bought the game for like $15 from eBay so I spend $30 more to get it finished and it's still less than a new game. I don't trust the reviews though, because like I said they sold out in 2020 to fuel the hype machine.

Yeah Bethesda just gives you a plate of crap and says "oh but this is what you ordered so enjoy"

Then proceeds not to fix anything

Skyrim still has shitty UI and game breaking bugs 12 years from release

Well, they patch their games, their games still come with complete concepts day 1.

My only point is that what was promised regarding that concept, is what Starfield is, lol loading be damned lol

lol so....nothing then? So...I know bud, I looked thru a lot of those videos too hype for the game, but they never really give some absolute statement on some magical feature that isn't present in the game. At most, you have them not being 100% transparent regarding how the worlds load when you are in them, but thats really about it.
I'm not saying the game is perfect, shit I was the one telling folks it feels like it really is a 7/10 (which isn't bad btw), but they are not really giving some false statement or fake promise about some concept or feature.

LOL. Just LOL. Do you have a newsletter I can subscribe to?
The deep lolz, sure Raven just follow me on GaF

(Me telling ya'll for the 2077th time how CDPR scammed ya'll) lol

"has star system to lie to you"

I dont like to talk trash about a reviewer before i actually play it myself, but most likely he is wrong here since its such an outlier.

But! the biggest wtf here is HOW is this dude top critic if this is his first review? lol
