Cyberpunk 2077 datamine suggests multiplayer and expansions are still coming

According to an analysis of the update’s game files by content creator Tyler McVicker, the 1.3 update has made sweeping changes to Cyberpunk and its engine. Most significantly, a datamine of the game’s executable has found new references to multiplayer and expansions.

At least two expansions are now listed in Cyberpunk 2077’s files, it’s claimed, and build states for “multiplayer gyms” and various tests. There’s also reference to “old” multiplayer modes, which could be pointing to the original plans for a Cyberpunk online game.

I'm holding off until a proper next-gen patch is released. I've been wanting to dive back in but there is so much out or coming out that I can easily wait. I hope they manage to correct course and rebuild their reputation and trust.

I just want that next gen patch. Got all but one achievement on X Series. Want to replay it with a proper next gen patch now.
I'm itching to play this. Don't care about all the hate and vitriol surrounding this game, but I'm tired of waiting for this damn next-gen patch smh. After seeing what the PC version looks like, I don't want to touch this without the patch.
 
They already said MP was cancelled so kinda doubt that. Do note the announcement of cancelled mp mode was made after selling millions of copies where mp was promoted as an upcoming component down the line.
Such a classy move.

The first dlc should just be the missing transit system , the 3000 doors that don't ever open in the game and some NPCs that actually say something. PC and Next Gen only if required.

I started adding mods to my PC version of GTAV and fooling around in the world made me realize how large of a gap there is between Cyberpunk and the best Rockstar games. Animation, NPC behavior. It's not even a fair contest.

GTAV's NPC's behave in incredibly realistic ways and the world feels alive. The only minor gripe to make the world feel 100% believable is if the NPC's had actual daily routines like they have in Skyrim. Then it would make GTAV the perfect open world game but I have no doubt this is in planning for GTA6.

There is no way CDPR will be able to deliver the kind of game they promised in the months/years prior to Cyberpunk's launch. No. Fucking. Way. There is just too much development work needed to get it to that state and they already have their plates full fixing system performance and other gameplay improvements.

This game is fucking dead.

Before 2077 launched and they spoke about multiplayer I had these grand visions of a GTA Online style hub world with a bunch of players roaming around getting up to mischief.

Now that we're a post CDPR bed shitting state, I think we would be lucky to receive some weak ass 3 player coop affair. Sigh, what could have been...

Yeah. This world was the most disappointing to me... because when you first enter it - it FEELS so incredibly deep and it is clear a lot of love went into it....

But then you really start walking around and you realize it's much more superficial than it presents itself to be... and that crazy high followed by that low was unfortunately quite a memorable moment in gaming.

I played through the game and it has its moments absolutely... but boy could it have been incredible more fleshed out.

- Flying cars
- Body modifications and the ripperdoc installing them
- Weapon customization of colors, materials. Why can't I have an all black carbon fibre assault rifle? Carbon fibre could give me a slight speed boost during combat due to the lightweight nature of the material. Similarly an all steel/chrome Desert Eagle pistol could make me move slightly slower but add more damage to its melee capabilities because of its increased weight.
- Apartment customization
- Vehicle customization. Adding armor plating to your car. Ability to add levitation so your car can go from driving to flying.
- Where's the flying ambulance and why doesn't this show up for any injured NPC's?
- Randomly spawning mobile ripperdocs that try to sell you rare/legendary gear in dark alleys at a specific time of night is another cool thing to implement. Adds an element of investigation to try and find these ripperdocs. The Division 2 has something like this though it's not a vendor but finding the 'Snitch' shows you the location of a weapons vendor.

It honestly is not a bad thing to take some ideas from other games to flesh out the world. With the advanced SSD's of these next gen consoles, flying or moving through the game world at great speed should not be an issue. Neither should having more than 50 NPC's on screen at any given time which is still a HUGE issue for me with open world games.
The limited amount of NPC's and traffic just kills immersion for me. Traffic and NPC's should be at max values in city center's and decreased in urban areas. NPC's should have random activities that they do. Watch Dogs 2 has people camping out in the woods as a great example. These things should be common in open world games.

Sorry for ranting now but Cyberpunk is just a huge fucking missed opportunity and it will never reach the lofty goals promised in the trailers leading up to launch. It would take the whole of CPDR years to get even close to that vision or anywhere near the levels of Rockstar's attention to detail in their open world games.

This post just made me realize how much this game lacks continuity. Never playing it again. Great suggestions and something that should have been a no brainer for CDPR.
 
This game had potential. Unfortunatly there's a ton more that needs doing to it that it will never be a good game to me (personally). So much needs doing I doubt CD Projekt will ever put the effort in post release.

As others have said, the world seems empty (and not just because of the lack of cars and pedestrians) . People are right in saying that NPC behaviour is lacking but theres something else I can't quite pinpoint that GTA does to make the world feel more alive. As of now the city feels lifeless.

You need solid mechanical foundations before even beginning to consider your game for a multiplayer mode and that's quite possibly the area where this game is at its worse (and not for the lack of competition).

I used to check CP 2077 reddit page daily

I was that much hopeful for a comeback. But now, its long gone.

I doubt that multiplayer is coming. This is probably some old stuff that made it into the patch.

Announcing that the multiplayer got canceled but adding it back would be stupid even for their standards.

Seems like this thing is going to remain a turd whatever. I was considering picking it up when it comes to Ps5 properly, but sounds like it’s just too fundamentally broken and shoddy to be salvaged into a decent next generation experience.

What a colossal waste of time, energy, money and hype.

It's the NPC's man and how you interact with the world.

As I said before I spent last weekend messing around in GTAV just strolling about and having a real proper look at the game world. I noticed some awesome little details that immediately made me compare it to Cyberpunk and it's the behaviour of the NPC's, traffic that sets these games apart.

Two random dudes having a chat and lighting a smoke. NPC's calling out your name as a neighbor or friend. Motorists cussing at you if you're standing in their way or crash into them. Or reacting negatively towards you if you run someone over, fight, shoot or injure someone.
And then you have the ambulance that shows up to tend to the injured NPC. Or the firetruck coming to put out a fire.
Just the other day I knocked out an NPC, waited for the ambulance to show up and stole it and to my surprise the driver of the ambulance tried to run after it to stop me after I'd stolen the vehicle. Then as I'm taking it for a joy ride, i notice traffic around me giving way so I can move through. I'm sure the same happens when you steal a cop car and have the sirens on.

It's these small details that make the game world feel alive. Flashy graphics and ray tracing will always do fuck all to immerse the player in the world. It's the interaction with that world that is key.

They certainly succeeded in the marketing and hype surrounding this game, maybe they should just quit the game industry and go into advertising :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I could just imagine the initial idea of this game being pitched and all the executives seeing $$$$ signs and no one brought them back down from the clouds to say yeah we can't actually do this lol

Just goes to show you can't develop a game on hopes and dreams.

I'm playing through it on my second platform - PC after PS4 Pro - if they manage to right some of its wrongs with expansions it could really turn into an epic title. I still believe... I think some wanker bosses who have since departed perverted the development of the game? Maybe, as I said, they'll right wrongs. Godspeed them.

Well the game has an 86 metacritic on PC, so that tells me the game is good in its proper state…even if it wasn’t exactly what we all expected it to be. Such a shame that the console versions haven’t been up to snuff, but I’m hopeful that the next gen patch (whenever that comes) can turn some of the tide.

I mean it's possible and CDPR are a big developer. It would probably take lots more time, money and the right skills to pull it off.

That said they could have supported Witcher 3 more and waited for next gen console specs and moved development of the game to next gen/PC which is where it should have been and not old gen.
Then again you're throwing away lots of money if not releasing on old gen so that's probably why they went ahead with launching on old gen. They saw the potential for more $$$$$$.

But It's the mis-management of this game that killed it. I heard it was a 3rd person shooter sometime during its development and then moved to 1st person. That alone is a huge change.
CDPR can only recover if they learn from their mistakes and get in competent managers.

I hear ya. I’m not looking for it to be groundbreaking or leading. Just want to enjoy a good game in a cyberpunk setting. There’s always gonna be reviews that inflate as well as drag down scores, but out of nearly 100 reviews, the sample size tells me the game is at least enjoyable.

It is enjoyable. On that I agree with you because I played through it on PS4 Pro. It wasn't a good experience (due to the constant crashing) but I paid full price for it and wasn't going to let my money go to waste.

But the amount of reviews praising the game as the second coming of Christ with 100 scores is just absolutely 100% horse shit. Games like Red Dead 2 or Last of Us 2 would get close to that but they're not perfect either which brings me back to my point of staying away from metacritic as a means to measure games critical reception. All you're going to get is hyperbole dialed up to 11.

I’m waiting for patches, expansions and the nextgen update to buy it. I came to AC Unity late and loved it. But the more time goes by the less it seems like the game is going to be salvaged.

Well I’m talking about the PC version, which is apparently a different experience than any of the console versions. Cyberpunk is a different beast on a high end PC, and I’m hoping the next gen patch can capture at least some of that magic. But I hear what you are saying. Cyberpunk definitely isn’t on the level of RDR2 or TLOU2, but on a high end PC is where the game apparently shines.

You know, out of all this, I really feel sorry for Keanu Reeves lol.. He is generally a good actor that is usually very good about what work he does and they made him look bad both in game and with everything that has happened! I think he would of gotten a lot of flack after this whole situation and probably scared other Hollywood actors out of considering any possible future video game roles.

Not how game development works, to add third person now is not just a matter of just panning the camera out. It's not really achievable now after the fact as the game design would need to change significantly.

Haven't they been working on "glaring" issues the whole time? It's clear parts of the source code needed some deep understanding and radical reworking in order to be able to introduce those feature people are hoping for. Patch 1.3 made the game much better and fixed some problems that will allow to further develop the engine's foundations and finally bring more substantial (aka visible) changes. The game should have been in the oven two more yrs for sure.

Next gen version is set to release this year but might be delayed.

TBH I hope they do not spend too much time on NPCS, police, customization and so on. It's all superficial stuff and I'd much prefer they would work on new stories, quests and characters, this is their strong suit and all those elements are already magnificent in the base game
