Batman Beyond: Year One (Fan Film)

"Witness the rise of a new Batman. Under the supervision of a now-retired Bruce Wayne, high schooler Terry McGinnis balances crime fighting and budding relationships in a futuristic Neo Gotham.

Written & Directed by Michael Yu

Starring Ryan Potter, Isabelle Hahn, Justin Vancho, Fiona Dorn, D.Y. Sao, Koki Tomlinson, Tony Vittorioso, Bruce Inaba & Dayna Huor"

If these moments look familiar, it's because the fan film focuses on the events of Season 1 Episode 8 'Dead Man's Hand' with Terry McGinnis, Melanie Walker, and the Royal Flush Gang:

Here is a short recap and breakdown of this part of the animated show:

On a personal note, I actually think the Royal Flush Gang plot would be perfect for an actual film or season 1 of an 8-episode live action series due to it checking quite a few boxes for audiences, including tragic romance, while also showcasing how Terry and his life, friends, and rogues are quite different from Bruce Wayne's.

There's one thing I hate more than fan-made game projects, and that's fan-made films

Watched it earlier, dude looks in his 40s playing a teenager
Fair criticism.

After cancelled movies, a non-starter live action show, and a non-starter video game project, this is the closest we will get to..well, anything with Batman Beyond in modern day.

The best we can hope for is for this to get enough views and be noticed by someone like James Gunn. Otherwise, this is it 🤷‍♂️

I often think if the people who made these fan films put their time and effort into something original, it would be a far better use of their time.

Some of them use fan films as a springboard to acquire a larger budget for original projects.

The better the fan film, the more attention it gets, and the more likely they are to be noticed by those who provide the means.

Wasn't bad. CW level. Good proof of concept.

Terry actor seemed likable. Wouldn't cast as Terry in a big budget thing purely for age but probably should be in more things. His voice delivery was very positively good for animated stuff, in my opinion.
