Avowed art director calls Elon Musk a "sad little shit" over Avowed gender pronoun complaints, indicates more of the same in final product

Will still buy the game.

Okay, I don't wanna hear anybody say that pronouns aren't a big deal when Obsidian is literally making content creators sign NDAs to prevent them from showing off character creation.

They knew that this would cause a problem and they tried to hid it. There is absolutely no reason to have this stuff in the game unless your game sucks and your hoping to improve review scores by being inclusive (Which worked for Veilguard).

So having the option of being called they/them isn't pushing a woke agenda?🤔

IMO RPG's should be all about options. There is nothing particularly wrong with making a character creator inclusive and allowing as many people as possible, even the ones with mental disorders, to create a character that represents them. That's the whole point of an RPG.

IMO when it becomes pushing an agenda is when you start shoving these elements in my face and, in the case of an RPG, limiting the ways I can interact with them, like Veilguard:
-Where there are top scars but you can't give characters big boobs or asses
-Where there is an annoying and often mean non binary character and you are forced to interact with her, can't really be mean to her or push back on most of the stuff she says, and actually need to remain friendly with her to get the best ending.
-When the entire writing shifts from dark fantasy with tons of choices all over the moral spectrum to modern soy fantasy where you can't be bad or mean and everything is infused with Disney/Marvel dialogue.

You read this thread and that's all you got out of it?

😵‍💫
Must admit I didn't read the whole thread because all I hear is Charlie Brown's teacher "wah waaah wah woke wah waaah wah DEI wah waaah wah boycott wah waaah wah give it to me hard, Elon'...

It's like trying to read and make sense of the Unabomber's manifesto in here these days, but I get the general gist.

Jesus Christ.

Musk is retweeting what is obviously bullshit for the lols. Knowing full well that Nadella/Microsoft can't respond because if they do then they'll have to respond to every RT that claims any fiction about the company.

See? This IMHO is why we have this stuff, or microtransactions in games. If we keep buying stuff that we don't stand for, whoever are selling them will think that it is ok and keep doing it.

I'm noone to tell you what to do with your money tho.
Perfectly valid and reasonable statement that I find it hard to disagree with. I'm a sucker for fantasy RPGs though, which is why I couldn't resist hovering over that pre-order button. But, if I see even one more of those far leftist woke posts from the game devs, you can bet for sure that I'm cancelling my pre-order without giving it a second thought.

But for this forum and Hogwarts Legacy in particular, it seems the DEI stuff was overlooked or dismissed simply because the purple forum was fuming about the game.
Pretty much. And you can't even defend hogwarts with "good game" argument, it was just generic soulless take on a generic soulless ubisoft template

So you think that an Art Director at Microsoft Game Studios who is openly and publicly saying there are 'too many crusty white dudes' in gaming isn't also discriminating when hiring artists for his team?

He's retweeting obvious truth, not bullshit. Or at least it clearly has elements of truth.

I think an Art Director can have a personal view and say things without describing the company policy of a division of one of the biggest companies in the world.

It's extremely disingenuous to try and claim one is evidence for the other. Especially once the account that's decided it is the one with as dubious as past as the one quoted.

What he said was in direct relation to a hiring policy. He also happens to be in a position where he would have oversight of any recruitment process for the positions he described.

This goes far beyond any "personal view".

Then you just press the button until you get what makes sense.

You're assuming people have the capacity to know what "makes sense".

If you've never seen what you're asking for (and/or have no basic knowledge about the topic you're enquiring about) how would you know whether or not what the AI is spitting out is truthful or accurate?

If you are in a state of incognisance, the first result will do, why waste any more time?

I miss the days when we could just enjoy games without nonstop culture wars. This is all so toxic from both sides that at this point I want to almost ignore Western gaming and just support the other markets.

Yes but they were smart enough to not to hyper focus on it, and not antagonize the players about it on social media. That’s why there was no outrage, and no one gave a fuck.

This has been the main problem with all of this for years now .. it’s either “you have to agree with me” or else you are a “nazi” , it’s like the ideology needs constant affirmation from everyone otherwise it looses credibility or something.

There is no middle ground.

He deleted his twitter account so the retweets will be gone as well.
I get that. But what doesn't make sense is the actual screenshot.

If you make a post on twitter, and I (Josh Sawyer) repost it, it would be on my profile (Josh Sawyer's profile). The screenshot isn't from Josh's profile, it's from someone else's profile, so it shouldn't say Josh Sawyer retweeted on the actual retweet. Does that make sense? Even if Josh did retweet it and deleted it from he's profile and its gone now, that screenshot isn't proof that Josh retweeted it to begin with.
