BS.

Folders are super useful for huge list of games in your homescreen, not to mention you can organize games by catalogue.
The home screen is like the recently played list. You don't need everything and the moon to be there. But, perhaps the system should be flexible enough to address the needs of everyone. It is much easier to select from the home screen the last few games you played vs having to browse through a list you created or go to the library so, if it is one over the other, what we have now works better.

Speak for yourself.

I like to organize games for myself. And some of my PS5 games get out of my screen just because I stop playing for like 3 days.

The system shouldn't do things for you, he should give an option to do so.

Again, some of people here are either skipped PS4 or defending PS5 homescreen decision for no reason. Folders was a huge upgrade of PS4 and help you divide what 'type' of games you have, to racing games to even 'pixel', indies and all the stuff. Is super useful.

So far PS5 OS is a huge letdown for me.

No....it will just remind me how stupid it was to create this theme only to take it away as part of some marketing scheme. I don't see the point in an every 10 year "limited time" console feature.
alright, be a bitter baby then, idc, it works and marketers know it

Hopefully the PS4 one is temporary and fucks off pretty quick.

The rest should be available forever.

Just seems useless to me for this to be limited time. Seems you are taking that personally......somehow.

How people can defend this is beyond me. Should be since day one.

They sure don't want to stop showing possible gaming AD/content in your homescreen.

Agree. Themes used to be one of my favorite features of the PS UI.

Pretty neat. Was fun hearing that startup sound after rebooting (had no idea this was coming). But it being limited time only is meh.

This needs to be permanent, I need that startup sound permanently… but I also hate that it cuts off before the end.

That boot up chime is still 🔥

But 5 years into PS5 and I still don't get why System feature updates are a separate submenu from system updates lol

Can I please not temporarily, personally speaking I like it much more than the standard theme. And I don't think it will be difficult for them to leave it forever, and most importantly I don't see any objective reason to turn it off.

I was.

You can increase the number of items shown in the home screen via settings. You can also pin the most played games, the ones you access regularly. So if games disappear after 3 days, then you must play a lot of different games at a given time.

The system shouldn't do things for you, he should give an option to do so.

Not really defending. To each his own but it makes more sense to me to have the home screen work like recently played with option to pin vs browse for a game within a list, granted those lists might be small, but anyhow.

Hey lets make something really cool and then delete it. Seems they have learned from the newest Forza Motorsport.

Wow, seeing these makes me realize that the PS5 menu is incredibly boring and unremarkable. Not that it really matters all that much, but 30 years from now absolutely no one is going to have nostalgia for it.

Why are these temporary? Hell- i’ll buy them. And bring the startup screens from each generation as an option to buy as well. Ill. Buy. Them. All.

I totally get the limited time hardware stuff. The theme being limited time just seems a little weird to me. Maybe it’s a tactic to get people to turn on their consoles that might not have in that period of time, see some ads or go to the store.
No reason the plates and controller are limited though

I wonder would it add much value to a 30th edition Pro if you never connected it to the internet again so it had this intro.

I went with the PS2 theme. Kinda stupid it’s limited. I have my Vita theme from their last anniversary and I still use that.

I wonder which leadership team had this amazing idea.

The overlays are kind of clunky TBH, but it's good to have a new look and if this a stepping stone to more custom themes, then it's a positive. There is a template!

Temporary themes? Jfc this company is so fucking clueless. We really are in an age where corpos control everything.

$500 console
$70 controller
$70 games
What do the sub tiers go for now? $60 to $120?

But hey, here are some cool screens to customize the very expensive hardware you bought, but oh, you can only use them for a limited time.

Fuck off, greedy corpos.

The themes themselves aren't particularly good but I'll be sad when the PS1 startup music and animation is gone.

Seems silly to have this stuff be temporary

Well if its limited time only whats the point?

Oh thank you for 30 years but only for a day.

Over 25k rewards points but cant use if for funds as they took it away.

Cant get the 30 percent discount for ps premium only new comers.

Now this.

Sony keep your petty shit and stop insulting us.

You have not been customer friendly for the past 5 years so this right here is really the biggest fuck you to all your fans.

And to think of that i bought 4 psones and 3 ps2 as they all failed and two ps3 from yellow light of death to this garbage called pro....i cant wait to be fucked by you once again with the ps6

I couldn't care less about the background themes themselves, but I would pay Sony money to be able to keep that startup screen indefinitely. Starting it up and hearing that sound was like reuniting with a good friend you haven't spoken to in years. It had me in my feelings. I restarted my console a few times just to hear it again.

This was soooo cool and unexpected too. I was like maybe I hop on... and BAM old ps1 intro start up played. I was like 👀

Startup stuff should be permanent.

This is one of my gripes with Sony; they finally get round to doing something or go 90% of the way to nailing something; and then just arbitrarily handicap the endeavour with stupid limitations.

A lot of the old guard may have changed over, but at heart these are still the folks who brought you one analogue nub on the PSP.

I can only assume they wanna sell 'em to people at a later date and this is just the taste to hook us in.
