I know a lot of people battle with this, but I think she absolutely made the right decision by focusing on her career.
Family is important. Work isn’t everything. Sometimes you do need to be able to stop and smell the roses. However, Alanah now has a robust resume and enough notoriety in the industry that she can afford to take breaks for “more important things” and she’ll have a place to land when she returns. She’ll never be so desperate that she’ll have to wait tables or slave away for Uber and Instacart to make ends meet.
While it may seem like work has taken away her chances to spend time with those that truly matter in her life, Alanah is privileged to be able to do what she wants for a living and she’s earned that position.

I smell bullshit on that. I work for a big tech company but I basically get a day of vacation every 2-3 weeks. It’s an hour amount and idk the exact number but it’s somewhere around there.
Americans on average get 7 days of paid sick leave and 11-20 days of paid vacation leave per year depending on seniority.

I think it's a choice on her part. Still crazy though, holding down a full time job and then doing a full time jobs worth of side gigs. No matter how much you want to do, or how much you think you can do, your body will eventually tell you to fuck off and start working against you.

A distribution center I worked at in Ohio a long time ago gave us 15 attendance points where each day was worth a point. I don't remember how you got them back but it was really easy. I want to say you got a point back for every calendar month you didn't miss work. You would accumulate sick pay if you worked at least 32 hours a week. One guy had built up 88 days of sick pay because of how long he'd been there without missing much work. You got increasing vacation time over the years you worked. Year 1 you got 5 days vacation. Year 2 was 10 days. Year 5 was 15 days. At Year 10 you got 20 days.
Now that place was way more generous than most any place I've worked at but I've heard of places with similar generosity over the years. A friend was working at one recently but unfortunately got laid off. Yes, a lot of places in the US are douches about time off but there are places who are much better about it.

When talentless people just spam their deliberately sexualized image and meaningless opinions on social media constantly and then report every detail of their life like strangers actually care and like the spammer actually cares about the strangers, some of us aren't moved by all of that. It can have the opposite effect and desensitize people to someone. I am sensitive to the loss of life but I'm not interested in people spamming every moment of their life for everyone to see and then the masses pouring out their fake sympathies. It's a cultural norm this last generation or two and it is pointless and stupid.

I always support people who leave environments with a bad work/life balance. It's unfortunate that some people don't have the privilege or choice, but I always encourage those that can leave to focus more on family and things that they want to do.

Being hoisted around and being a public face of something 24/7 sounds fun till you're doing it. I was a field manager for a low voltage company in 2018 and 2019 before I shifted into IT and sure, being able to go to NYC and really nice places in Cali, Texas and Florida was so cool for 6 months till you eventually just want to go home and spend time with your family. If you have nothing going on to dedicate yourself to it then yeah, I could get it being fun but I missed my husband and my English bulldog at the time more than I was looking forward to "Go to Ft Lauderdale and oversee this Target IT project for 3 months" then you bemoan it even though hitting the beach for a bit looks cool for Facebook the reality of it gets real old, real quick .

The only games that's been made since she got hired is GOW Ragnarok and whatever new games under development nobody knows about yet.
Who knows. Maybe she wrote content.
Personally, I think they hired her to be a pretty face online for gamers.
